(Whytnie’s POV)
We have finally arrived! Man, my butt was sore, my ears hurt from those two talking my ears off, not letting me zone them out with my headphones, and my neck felt stiff from trying to sleep along the way. This was just great. We got here just in time, but I probably could’ve looked better. Harry was the first one to get out, he was in the passenger side next to Caleb, who was driving, while I was sprawled out in the backseat, trying to sleep for just a little bit longer. I wasn’t so lucky.
“Hey, Whyt?” Caleb called out, opening his own door. Sighing, I knew I wasn’t going to get the chance to fall back into a peaceful sleep any time soon. “We’re here, get your lazy butt up already.”
Before I had a chance to answer, a few hoots and hollers echoed around us as Harry was swooped up into the new and reformed One Direction’s band members. Louis was first to give Harry a gigantic hug, which Harry almost started crying as his arms tightened around Louis. I quickly got out of the car and came around to their side, immediately being swallowed up in the crowd. They were all wondering if I was really going to be okay, they hadn’t believed anything over the phone. They all wanted to see me face-to-face. Man, I missed them.
Everyone started talking all at once, but I couldn’t quite comprehend anything they were saying. It all got very confusing. Somehow I ended up next to Caleb again, leaning on him for strength, feeling a bit tired a and weak. Harry was catching up with Zayn, waiting for Niall and Emily to come back from making a Starbucks run. As soon as they got back, Emily almost dropped her drinks as she saw me. We both smiled and she set the drinks down as soon as she found a good enough spot, and we both hugged it out. She cried. I cried. We all were crying, basically. It just felt good to be back together again, no matter the circumstances.
“Now that we’ve got those out of the way, shall we get to filming then?” the band’s new manager asked, calming everyone down enough to talk at us. He was giving out directions left and right, who goes where and who does what. Apparently the first scene we’re going to film takes place in the backyard, where there’s lots of trees and bushes to hide behind. After the announcements were made, we were all rushed to “hair and makeup”. I really didn’t think they could do anything to make me look good, but they did. Somehow. It’s still a miracle to me. But once I looked into the mirror, I didn’t recognize who was looking back at me.
“Too bad the water’s going to ruin your hair.” I sighed, agreeing with the girl that did my hair and makeup. I was worried about what other people were going to think when they saw me, because I was wearing way more makeup than I had when I’d gotten the black eye, and I thought that was way too much.
When I had the finishing touches done, I went out to find everyone else, and they were all planning strategies, having already chosen the teams. Team Liam vs. Team Niall. On Liam’s team were a couple of people whose names I didn’t remember, a few extra girls that were on the set, Louis, Caleb, and I. On Niall’s team were more people I didn’t recognize, Emily, his first pick, Zayn, Eleanor, and Harry. Caleb and Harry were throwing taunts at each other, trying to make the other one forfeit with the looks they were giving off.
The video director gave off a couple orders, telling us that this was one of the scenes where the boys weren’t going to stop and sing. So we all shook hands and let the games begin.
