(Whytnie’s POV)

“So we’ve taken the next couple of weeks off, to be there,” I overheard Louis whisper to Harry, as I leaned against the bathroom door. “You’re families going to be flying in soon, and then we’ll arrive right after them.”

            “Yeah.”

            “Nervous yet?”

            “Kind of.”

            “In a bad way?”

“No!” Harry said quickly. It was loud enough that I was supposed to be able to hear it. They both went quiet, waiting for the bathroom door to open. It didn’t. I held my breath. They went back to talking in hushed voices.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it.”

            “I know.”

            “Excited?”

            “Definitely.”

            “Scared?”

Harry paused, probably thinking about what to say. He finally answered with a “Maybe.”

“But you’re pretty hell bent on marrying her, aren’t you?” Harry must’ve nodded because he didn’t answer. “And we support you, don’t get me wrong, I just want to make sure you know what you’re doing.”

“I do know what I’m doing,” Harry replied back calmly, but I could sense a little irritation in his tone. “I love her. She loves me. There’s no one else that we’d want to spend the rest of our lives with.”

“Are you sure about that?” My heartbeat quickened, but Harry didn’t say anything. “Just the way Caleb hangs around…?”

“There’s nothing going on between Whytnie and Caleb.”

            “I know there isn’t.”

            “Then what are you implying?”

“Do they want more to be happening?”

I hadn’t even known what I’d done until I actually did it. “The answer to your question is no.” Had I just blown my cover? The two guys jumped up and stared at me like I was the alien that came to abduct humans from that movie Caleb and I watched one afternoon, totally forgetting the name of it now though. “Caleb and I don’t have a relationship like that.”

“I believe you,” Harry quickly told me, taking a step towards me and away from Louis. Louis’ face fell, just a little bit, but his expression didn’t seem to show that he was actually accusing me of anything. Yet. “I never doubted you.”

Ignoring Harry, I turned to Louis and questioned him; because even though Louis didn’t look like he believed there was, I was just mad. “Why does anything have to be going on between Caleb and me?”

“I don’t think there is anything going on! But what if there was?”

            “Well, there isn’t.”

“Okay,” Louis said and sighed. “I should probably be going.” Harry gave me a look I couldn’t quite decipher before following Louis to the door. I fell back on my bed, closing my eyes and willing them to never open again.
