(Harry’s POV)

“Scared of what?” I asked, watching her every movement. She blinked a couple of times, trying to figure out what to say. I can see the wheels in her head turn as thoughts crossed her mind but none of them were voiced. She finally got control and figured out what to say.

“Of you.” Of me? “I’ve read and watched a lot of stuff about relationships.” She shrugged. “Guys never like it when their girlfriends become whiny and clingy or crazy jealous. I just never wanted to be one of those girls.”

“When you act indifferent about the small things, it makes me feel like you don’t want to be with me at times.” She looked hurt but we weren’t done with this argument for me to go up and comfort her.

“Even when I’m mad, I want to be with you.” A small smile plays over her lips. “Even when you annoy me, I want to be with you.” I gave her a questioning look. “Even when you have to pick a fight with Caleb, I want to be with you.” Her smile grows. “Even when you complain about how many times we have to watch the same movie over and over, I want to be with you.”

And with that being said, I knew our fight was over. “Did you know that I love you?” I asked before I kissed her. She kissed me back with as much passion as I had. When we both broke apart, her eyes were closed and a little knowing smile took place.

“You’re probably the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” she whispered as I pulled her closer, not letting her go until I was ready. Of course, would I ever be ready? Not really, no. But for this moment, her in my arms, nothing bad could happen. Well, that is, until a certain someone walks back into the room and clears his throat extremely loud. Whytnie pulled away to laugh at Caleb, who was casually leaning against the wall by the door trying to look nonchalant.

Caleb met my eyes and asked, “So did you tell her?” Well, I guess I couldn’t change the subject for long apparently.

“I was just about to,” I reply through gritted teeth. Whytnie looks back and forth between the two of us, expecting one of us to come forth and answer. Well, I definitely wasn’t going to let Caleb answer for me. I glared at him for a few more seconds before turning my charm on Whytnie, who sensed something was amiss right away.

“Don’t give me that look,” Whytnie retorted.

Faking innocence, I asked, “What look?”

“The one that says I’m not going to like what you have to say next.”

“I have a look like that?”

“Do you know what else you have a look for?” Caleb taunted. Whytnie gave him a look that quieted him right down. Turning her full attention back to me, she was giving me one of those looks that told me I better tell her now or pay consequences later.
