Targeted audience: both genders

My star rating: 4.5 stars
Soul Eater: Death Weapon Meister Academy serves to train people that turn into weapons and their meisters (the people that wield those weapons) how to work together to protect the world from witches and evil spirits. Soul Eater and his meister Maka nearly graduate, having gathered 99 evil souls and almost getting a witch's soul, however they fail to get the witch's soul and have to start back at zero. The two are distraught, but they soon find an even greater problem, some powerful witches have decided to destroy the academy and all its residents.
My thoughts: I must admit that at first I didn't want to start this show because it seemed creepy. The main characters are soul reapers and the head of the school is named Death, but I started watching and soon learned that this anime took a dark topic and made it humorous and light- hearted. The characters are straight out fantastic and the bad guys are really easy to hate (not counting Crona, he's a like-able enemy)
Soul Eater NOT: this series takes place at the same academy, prior to the original series. This series is far more girly than Soul Eater and has less action and more drama. The original characters are occasionally seen, but mostly it is about the new three girls that entered the academy: a princess, a weapon who doesn't know how to transform, and a forgetful meister. If you like girly shows, this is right up your alley.
My thoughts: Soul Eater Not wasn't my favorite, I liked the main series and was a little disappointed in this one.
