Rex had to make a choice. Being stuck in the middle ground had brought him pain. He looked over towards the forest. He could save everyone, but he also, he wouldn't be there for Kyasurin. No, I've spent all this time learning from her, and after everything I can't leave now. It'll be easier to just hide. Hide away from his anger. Just spend as many moments as he can with her, so that he can be happy. Rex finally gets off the ground, and walks towards Kyasurin, eventually sitting down next to her.
"You're okay!" She says, seeming happier instantly.
"Yeah, I am." Rex said,"I don't know what's going to happen next, but I'm at least going to go through it with you. So I'll stay here with you." He wasn't willing to try anything else. He was too scared.
"That's, good." Kyasurin said,"But I mean, it's not like you really had any other choice now."
Rex chuckles a bit. She didn't know, nobody knew, what he almost did,"Yeah. There was nothing else that seemed right."
"Hey Red?" Kyasurin said, looking over at him.
"Yeah, what is it?" Rex said.
"Just making sure, but you are okay, right?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. If anything, I feel better than ever." I made my decision, and it was freeing, in a way,"Even though this is going on." Rex said, looking down a bit. He wasn't going to do anything. He was just going to let time do its thing. I mean, he knew how to wait.
"That's good." Kyasurin said, smiling a bit.
"Anyways, I'm sorry for worrying you." Rex said,"Another freak out and all."
"Come on Red, you know I don't really care. I mean, you're fine now, and nobody can blame you for that, not when all this is happening. Although, you did still give me a scare. But you don't need to apologize ten more times, you know." Kyasurin said.
"Heh. I guess so. I do tend to do that." Rex said, sighing.
"Yeah, you do. But I mean, you're just trying to be nice." Kyasurin said to Rex,"So it's not really a bad thing."
"Thanks." Rex said, and the two of them were quiet for a bit. Just sitting there, enjoying each other's silent company. At least they were still together, even through everything that happened.

A day later...
"I'm worried." Rex said,"I can't help but feel that eventually all those power hating people will find us, and what could we do then?"
"I don't know." Kyasurin said,"I guess we'll all have to fight back."
"I'll protect you." Rex said,"If it comes down to that." Even if I'm scared, I won't let anyone hurt Kyasurin. Nobody.
"You better stay safe to though." Kyasurin quickly replied,"You could get really hurt!"
"I, I think I'll be fine." Rex said. He didn't need to worry about getting angry anymore. He didn't think it would be possible for him to have an anger attack. That's what the old Rex would've done.
"You better be. I don't know if I could handle if you... if you left. Forever." Kyasurin said.
"I won't." Rex said,"I'd do anything before that! I won't leave you, just like you won't leave me, right?" He sounded pretty desperate.
"I'll try, Red." Kyasurin said,"I'll try..." She didn't sound certain that she would though. After all, being one of the main healers had taken a lot out of her.
--------
2 days later.
"They're coming." Momo said, her voice serious as always,"They found us. Run or fight, but you can't just stay here any longer."
"We need to run. Neither of us are fighters, at least in comparison to some of the others." Rex said, his voice slightly unsure.
"Alright." Kyasurin said,"If you say so."
The two ran, and before long the sound of gunfire began to ring out. They heard screams, presumably from both sides.
Rex looked down not wanting to accept that he was running away and possibly letting some people he knew die. He couldn't worry about it, he couldn't let that affect him.
After long enough, the shots died down and the fight seemed to have ended.
Kyasurin said,"We have to go back! Who knows who might need help? I could save some of them."
"No, it's too dangerous. As far as we know, everyone we knew could all be dead already." Rex said, but even his internal voice was telling him to go back.
"So you're going to give up on them? If they're hurt, somebody needs to go back to save them!" Kyasurin says.
Rex looks down, but feels something that tells him he has to go,"Fine. But stay behind me, and stay silent."
The two of them headed back quietly, and saw something much more akin to what Rex thought. There were bodies of both normal humans and those with powers lying on the ground. In the center, a group of people with guns were surrounded some of the people who couldn't move or escape, probably planning to kill them.
It was than Rex felt it. He hadn't destroyed it. It was just waiting, and building. His anger was still inside him. And seeing practically an execution about to happen he couldn't take it,"Stay back. I'm going to do something." He whispered to Kyasurin, quickly surveying the ground.
"Wait, stop. You could die." Kyasurin tried to whisper back, but Rex was already gone. He snuck up and grabbed the gun of one of the other soldiers bodies. He would make them pay. For making his and Kyasurin life hell again, and for doing this to so many innocent people. They will not survive! In a flurry of rage, Rex tightened his senses, and took a shot, followed by another, and another.
Some of the people fell over, bullets flying through them, but the last of them turned and fired at Rex.
Rex kept shooting until they all died, before collapsing to the ground blood spilling from multiple gun wounds.
Kyasurin ran up to him,"You, how could you do this!" She almost touched him, trying to take away his pain.
"Stop." He said quietly,"I will not have you die. You can't take my pain,it's too much." He said,"Please, live for me, don't die for me!"
But Kyasurin didn't stop. Instead she tried to use what she had learned during this time,"No. Both of us are getting out of here! You saved those people, and now I'm at least going to save you!" She touched Rex, and buckled over in pain,"I will not die, Red. I promise." She fell unconscious.
"Please... don't make that be a lie." Rex said back, also fainting.

A few days later
Rex woke up, in a white room. His first thought was, where is Kyasurin?! Followed quickly after by, No way?! That wasn't all a dream. Than he realized he was in a hospital. He's alive. And not trapped. He tilted his head to the left, and saw her. She was sleeping.
"Oh, you're awake!" A nurse said, walking into the room,"Are you worried about her? Unfortunately, we're not sure she's going to make it. Although she shows no sign of being hurt, her body seems to be in terrible condition."
"No! She won't die! She can't die!" Rex suddenly tried to move, but quickly fell back down.
"You're in no position to get up yet!" The nurse sternly said.
"Fine. But please, you have to save her!" Rex said, his voice worried.
"We're doing everything we can." The nurse said.
--------
A few days later
Rex finally could get up, out of his bed. But he hadn't yet. He was too scared of what he would see. She still hadn't woken up. Kyasurin was probably going to... break her promise. He couldn't bear to see that. So he hid in the bed, horrified. Why did he have to go back! Why did he break his choice and fight? Now, now she could die, and it was my fault! Rex couldn't handle it, and cried into his already wet pillow. He realized he couldn't go on like this either. He made a choice. He would talk to her, one last time. Say his... farewells.
Rex got up out of his bed, his body wrapped in bandages still. He sat down next to her bed, in a small chair,"You look so cute, sleeping like that. I really messed up, huh? But that's not what matters right now. I just wanted to tell you... thank you." He started to cry again,"Thank you for everything. Always being with me, and standing by me. You changed my life. You made me feel, happy, you know that. You made me feel love again. Because I love you!" Rex started sobbing,"I love you, Kyasurin! I will always remember you. Even if you don't wake up, I will always remember you! I'll remember what you taught me, the person you made me!" Rex paused for a bit,"And I promise! I will do everything I can to make up for this. I'll be the best person I can be. For you! Thank you so much. Goodnight, my love." Rex said, tears still flowing from his eyes,"I will never break...another promise."
