"Just who are you!" Alan yelled.
"You know full well who I am, stop lying to yourself." Rex said.
"No. I don't know you. I just hate you." Alan said.
"You could've been so much more." Rex said.
"What do you mean?"
"You were supposed to be my protégé."
"Hah! And what, you expected me to accept how I was treated by so many people? You expected me to be able to live with that!"
"I wanted you to be perfect!"
"Perfection doesn't exist."
"You were supposed to save everyone."
"And I will get them out of the forest. I have to do that. Thanks to you." Alan said sarcastically.
"But than what?"
"I'm going to leave a group of people who doesn't even think of me as my own person."
"And you know what. Neither do I."
"Why you!"
"You were just supposed to be me but better."
"So you couldn't accept that I was human too!"
Rex looks down, unable to come up with a good response,"I hate you so much!"
"The feelings mutual."
"Why, I wished for you to, Why?!"
"That?! You expected me to help her?"
"Look at what you've done to her! What kind of hero leaves somebody like that?"
"Than maybe I'm not a hero, you ever thought of that! Maybe I'm just another real person."
"I don't want you to be! Not if you've done that to her!"
"I hate her just as much as you!"
"What?!"
"How was I supposed to help someone, who could never, ever, look at me as myself! What, accept that I'm not supposed to exist!"
"Maybe..." Rex couldn't say that loudly. How was someone supposed to accept that.
Alan ran at Rex punching him in the face,"You're the one who's not supposed to exist anymore."
"No! I have to exist! I need to be there for her!" He punched Alan back.
"Just let me have my turn in piece. Stop trying to wrestle control back." It degenerated into a full out brawl. In the end, Rex had Alan on the floor.
"What do you do now, huh?" Alan asked,"You've won. What do you do to the loser?"
Rex grabbed Alan's neck,"I could kill you, right now."
"Do you really think you'd get your body back? Do you really think that this is what makes you win?"
"Is it wrong that I don't want to just watch anymore? I can't see her like that."
"You caused it yourself! If you had never left, you wouldn't have even had to worry about me."
Rex starts to squeeze,"Just give up! I just want to see her. To save her."
"It'll be too late now. She won't even...talk to you."
"She'll know it's me! I have to save the people you can't."
"Heh. I'm really nothing to you, aren't I?"
"Yeah. I never even needed you."
"And now you're...going to kill me...for that?" Alan said, struggling to breath.
"I need to save her!"
"Than I won't even exist! Be happy you're still alive. When I die, I'm gone forever. I was just as jumble of your emotions at first. You can just take me back, destroy me."
"I never should've even made you in the first place."
"Damn...you...Rex...fine."
"What?"
"Take me back."
"You're accepting it?"
"It's either that...or die."
Rex is surprised at his sudden change of heart.
"Plus, I want you to feel it."
"Feel what?"
"Feel what I felt. Because of you!" Alan touched Rex's face.
He saw it all. Everything. Everything the little boy had gone through. Nobody accepting him. Rex let go and stumbled back.
"You see. You see why I hate you?"
"That's what it's like?"
"My whole existence being laughed at, all because of you!"
"I'm sorry."
"Why did I have to be in your body?"
"You didn't deserve this, did you."
"Nobody deserves this. I was my own person."
"But, they all saw me."
"Of course they did. How were they supposed to accept it, I guess."
"So, that's why you didn't want me back."
"If you came back, even for another moment. My existence would've been invalidated. I would've just been you again. They would only be trying to get you back."
"But I still need to go back."
"Why! Why can't you just accept that you're an observer now."
"Could you help her? If you're only a person. I can do more than you can."
Alan walked as far away as he could go, hitting the wall. He knew Rex was right but..."No! I'm not going to die!"
"You are another human." Rex said, looking sad,"But I must do what must be done."
The two of them looked at each other, for a second.
Rex had too many doubts. He wanted to see one last thing. He had an idea,"Than come on. Red."
For a second, Alan was confused, and than,"Still with that nickname, huh?" Rex's voice came out of Alan. Alan looked terrified,"No no no no no! I am me! Nobody else!" Alan ran at Rex again.
Rex realized it than,"So that's who you are."
The two of them clashed again. Rex won again,"I'm sorry, but this needs to be done."
"Even still, after everything?" But Alan couldn't do anything.
"Yes. Goodbye, Alan." You were the person I always wanted to be. And that's why you were like what you were like. I'll try, to be more like you. But still, I have to save her.
Alan was crying, kicking, and screaming. He didn't get it.
Of course, Rex understood that. There was no way he could've. Rex cried as well, as Alan started to disappear. He wished that it didn't have to come to this. But there was no other way. They were very stubborn people,"I'm so sorry."
It wasn't long before it happened. Alan disappeared.
Rex would wake up again soon. He just, he needed to fix what only he could. Than, he would try to be as good as Alan had been. He had to try, for Alan's sake. Otherwise he would never forgive himself.
