Chapter Sixteen

Annie and I still hung out but i didn't mention Gale to her. I didn't want her to blow up on me like Peeta did.

We decided to see Paper Towns, and Annie and I were not pleased with the ending.

**Kind of ending spoiler coming in the next part.

"What the hell that was horrible!" I say.

"I know! I read the book and knew what was gonna happen but I'm still mad. He looked for her everywhere and she doesn't go with him! What was the point of hiding the clues if you didn't want to be found." I laugh at Annie's annoyance.

We stop to get ice cream at Annie's favorite place across from the movie theater. She orders chocolate chip cookie dough, she says it's her usual. I order just plain vanilla which gives Annie a disgusted look.

"Vanilla? Out of all the flavors?" She laughs.

"Don't judge" I say nudging her. We take a seat in a booth sitting across from each other.

"So how is your time here so far?" Annie asks smiling.

"Actually, Great! It's so much better than my old school. Plus you guys are pretty cool." I say which makes Annie smile more.

"Well, I'm glad you came here Katniss. You're such a great friend." She tells me. Annie is probably the sweetest of the group.

The door swings open which causes Annie stress. "Oh no." She says in a whisper.

"What's wrong Annie?" I whisper back. I don't know why we're whispering, but I just do it back since she has a reason for doing it.

"He's here." She says looking towards the counter. I look back where she's looking, "Don't look back now! He'll notice." She scolds me still speaking in a whisper. She puts her head down trying not to be recognized, but it fails. Finnick slides into the seat next to her.

"Hello Annie, Kitty." He grins.

"Kitty?" I ask. "That's a new one."

"Well I am original" He smirks. This usually would make Annie do at least a small laugh, but right now she stopped eating her ice cream and now is staring at me with her eyes wide.

"You okay?" He turns to Annie who is at his side. She hasn't said anything since he's gotten here, she didn't even give him a glance.

"I'm fine." She simply answers.

"Finnick it's our turn to order!" Johanna yells from the line.

"That's my cue, see you guys later." He winks and leaves us.

"Oh my god. That was so awkward. And I'm never awkward around Finnick! This is bad." She puts her face in her hands.

"It'll get better over time Annie." I comfort her.

"Let's just go before he sits with us again." She says getting up and throwing her trash away.

"Okay I'm going to get a drink before we go, Do you wanna wait in the car to avoid another awkward situation?" I ask, and she nods. I go in line again and then Johanna and Finnick come over. It's good that Annie left.

"What was wrong with Annie?" Finnick asks with concern. As I'm about to answer with just a plain simple 'nothing' he adds "and don't say nothing because I know Annie, and I know that isn't her usual self." Well..

I order my drink and try to avoid his question. "Katniss." He reminds me to answer.

"Check your texts with her...but preferably when I'm gone." I say opening the door.

"Wait what?"

"Check your texts" I repeat myself, he gives a nervous nod and I leave.
