------KATIES FATHER AND NOAH AS I PITCTURED THEM------

We walk to my tent so I can pick up any last things. Both of us have a strong feeling we won't be coming back for a long time.

"Do you think the soldiers will be angry?" She asks. I mull this over quietly and shake my head.

"No. We aren't doing anything wrong at the moment. . . right?"

"Good point. Now hurry and get your stuff. My Dad will be back soon and the children are probably awake by now. "

"What should I bring?" I ask.

"Change of clothes?"

I grab my v neck t shirt and stuff it into the bag with the boots. Along with it goes a black skirt that goes past my ankles. Then the last item of clothing, my black cloak. Besides the clothes on my back, thats it.

"Hey," Katie says. She touches the cloak. "This looks familiar. Where have I seen this?"

"That?" I look at the tents beige fabric. "Just my Moms."

"Ohhh." She says. "Lets go. Time to brave the storm right?"

I nod and we walk to her house. I have the meat and milk with me. We've decided to tell them over dinner and as my parents used to say, A full belly is the solution to many problems. We don't bother knocking, we walk right in. The sun sets behind us and I smile. This is it.

"Kate!" Her father yells. "The children woke up! Where were you? And hello Scarlet."

"Sir," I curtsy politely.

"Whats this?" He peers at my basket. "Meat? And a lot of it!"

"And milk, Father!" Katie adds. "Scarlet has decided to share with us."

"Where did you get this, Scarlet? I had no idea you were so capable."

"I'm not. I was also hoping we could talk about some things over dinner."

"Of course," He says, obviously surprised and confused.

"Ill leave the kitchen then. You girls do what you need to do while I take care of the children. Hurry please! Meat is a favorite!"

We smile at each other as we watch him leave.

"Dinner was a good idea, right?"

"Yeah." Katie sighs. "Sure am gonna miss em all."

"We have to do this," I offer a smile.

"I know. Lets start cooking."

Dinner is prepared and we are all seated.

"Let us hold hands and pray." Katie says. Her Father nods and closes his eyes. We all recite together the all to familiar words. "Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing,  thank you God for everything."

After a few minutes of eating, Katie starts the conversation.

"Father," She begins. "Scarlet and I have made some rather important decisions about what I plan to be doing these upcoming days."

He looks up from his food. "What is it?" He stops chewing and I nod to Katie.

"You will have to keep watch over the house, Father. Ill be out on a journey these next few days.  Scarlet has befriended someone who believes its time. She believes what you used to!  I'm so sorry. but I must do this." My eyes widen at this but I say nothing.
