Abbey and I blink, and sit up on her horse awkwardly.
"Who are you?" Knowledge asks.
"Abbey," I whisper. "the hood, take off the hood!"
We remove our hoods and smile nervously.
"What. . ." Grey says. He doesn't look at us, more like something behind us. "Did you do to my horse?" He asks.
"We didn't do-" Begins Abbey. She looks behind her, to see the stable door open, and the horse standing there. I swear if you look in the right angle, you can see the stupid horse smirking.
"My uh-" I hesitate. "horse ran away."
"Oh, I know," Knowledge says. Abbey looks straight at Knowledge and Grey, like a normal person would. I can't look up. Its awkward, imagining that just thirty minutes ago, you saw into that persons normal self. Even if it was just him being kind to an animal and practicing with a sword.
"We're gonna. . . get the horse now, okay?" Abbey says. I nod in agreement.
Silence.
"Okay," I say. "B-bye!" I try to squeeze the horse, but since I'm in the back, it doesn't feel me as much. "Abbey," I say. "Go, go,go,"
"Oh-" She kicks her horse into action, heading north.
"Wrong way," Knowledge calls out from behind me. I try to keep a straight face and look at her. She points south.
"Time to zoom pasts your friend, Scarlet," Abbey says.
"Shut up," I warn. We gallop past them very fast. Not fast enough, though, because I catch the smallest hint of a smile on Grey.
Eventually we find her, chewing on grass by the house, not a care in the world.
"Stupid horse," I mumble. I get up on her and smile.
"Should we head back to the stables?" Abbey asks. "I mean, we never did says we were going for a morning ride. What if they start worrying?"
"Knowledge? Worrying? Funny joke, but Its fine. We just won't take as long."
"Fine then," Abbey says. "lead the way," she states.
"Hmm," I look around. I decide to take a small side street, looming with shadows and quiet. "This way,"
We ride slowly through the street, talking every so often. We mainly enjoy the morning ride. Back home, i'd be waking up now, working hard, nearly starving.
"Hey, Scarlet?" Abbey asks.
"Yes?"
"Why do you think those two were together? I mean Grey and Knowledge."
I answer immediately, "I though of that, and I think they were discussing magic, or something, then they heard the mess in the stables, and came to take a look. They most likely met in the woods."
"Magic. . ." Abbey says.
"Yeah,"
As we reach the near end of the street, three men come out, eating holding a weapon. We have three feet between us at the most. Dauntless scrapes against the street and moves her tail side-to-side.
"Hello, Ladies," one of them says. The other two laugh. I realize we didn't bother to put our hoods back on. Shoot.
"Gentlemen," I try out. I hate this.
"Those are some. . . fine looking rides you've got to yourself. Did ya steal em?" Asks the man.
I swallow. Ive lived through tons of these situations. Abbey obviously hasn't. She bites her lip, her eyes filled with concern
