                                                                   ONE MONTH AFTER TRAINING BEGAN

Two days. Thats it, two short days. In two short days, the mission goes into place. We spent one month in training. We learned magic, swordplay, and mental confidence. We aren't just children anymore; we are warriors. Every night, we go over different ideas for plans, certain people we are to meet. What to do in all sorts of scenarios. Honestly, I don't even think ill need half the Knowledge we were supplied with. Ive trained with Dauntless so that she isn't easily spooked, Knowledge taught me all the magic I will need to know, and then, theres Grey. He taught me wind magic, the thing that I never thought I could master. Ive controlled it, the ultimate magic.

"Scarlet," A deep voice says. I jerk out of my thoughts. Right, training with Grey, focus.

"Uh, sorry," I manage.

"Ill take defense, you do attack this time." I hate doing this, hitting him with all I've got. Not only is it tiring, but its just plain frustrating. Im nowhere near his level, even though I am thought to have insurmountable power. If Grey can't kick this kings butt in a five minute time limit, we are seriously screwed.

"Do you just do this to watch me lose?" I say, wiping a bead of sweat off my forehead.

"Maybe." He cocks two fingers at me, with a smirk. I roll my eyes, and charge at him. At first we use swords, we clash head on, like dancing. I keep my sword in front of me, viciously attacking him with all my strength. He focuses on blocking all my hits. I drop the sword and switch to magic. I breathe in and quickly emerge my silhouette world, pulling out a blast of fire to scorch that stupid smirk off his face.

I throw it to him and he blocks it with one hand.

"Are you kidding me? It took you two seconds to do that. Two whole seconds. Thats enough time for a trained person to stab you about five times, without trying. Stop being a little brat, and use all your strength!" I yell a frustrated cry and charge at him, creating a water sphere around him. This time, he doesn't block it, he just stares at me through it, holding his breath. A small part of me wants to free him, but its obviously a trap. Eventually, he breaks free of the sphere, and freezes my legs to the floor. I yelp in dismay.

"Not fair!" I yell, "You said you wouldn't use those magics, Grey!"  I try to pull my legs out, as he walks to me.

"Imagine I'm trying to kill you," He completely ignores me. "You are stuck there, unable to move. Your friends? Well, they all got killed. Here you are, completely frozen. I'm not the only one who can do this, you know. What, do you think they'll just let you go? In battle, lies can so often lead to victory. Don't trust anyone." He walks over and brushes his hand over my face. "Not even me." He says quietly. My legs free up and I kick them, disliking the locking feeling they have.

We sit down on the grass. Or at least I do, he stands up, looking at the horizon. It must be about eight in the morning now. Everyone else wakes up at nine now, living their last days in luxury, I suppose.

"Hey, Grey," I say thoughtfully. "I never seriously thanked you for teaching me. I seriously can't pay you back for everything you've done for me."

He smiles slightly.

After a while, I head towards the house.

I walk in the house and go up to the loft.As I reach the top of the ladder, I hear no talking. Good. I came back late this time. Too risky.

As I lie down, a voice penetrates the silence,

"Where the heck were you?" I whirl around, only to see Katie standing in front of me. Her lips are a dark red, her eyes glare into my own, fierce and bold.
