Chapter 25

"Hey, Darren?" I asked. He glanced down at me. "Yeah?" he said. "How do I, um, get these wings back in?" I asked. He laughed. "I'll show you later," he said. "I have to show you something else first." I nodded. I kinda have the hang of this flying thing. I followed him, but he was going a little too fast. "Darren!" I called. "Slow down!" He stopped and I almost crashed into him. "We're almost there," he said. "Just a little more." He flew up higher and I followed.

"Where are we going?" I asked. Darren ignored me. "Where are we going!?" I asked, a bit louder. He stopped and, this time, I did crash into him. He steadied me. "Whoa, there," he said, smirking. "Don't want you to fall out of the sky." I slapped him. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. I gasped as his hands went around my waist. "Darren?" I said. My wings went limp. He smiled at me and kissed me again. I grabbed onto his shirt and fisted it. He pulled back.

He smiled. "Just making sure," he said. I glanced behind him. "Making sure of what?" I asked. He ignored me. "Making sure of what?" I asked again. He kissed my cheek and said, "Ready?" I just looked at him. He flew us over to a cloud and dropped me. I screamed, but I never fell through. I opened my eyes and looked around. "Where, exactly, are we?" He smirked. "Jenny!" he called. Someone just appeared in front of us.

I looked at them curiously. "Is she real?" I whispered. She laughed. Her laughter was like music. "Yes, sweetie," she said. "I'm real." I looked at her. She had a white flowy gown on and pure white wings. I couldn't look at them for too long; they were blinding. "You must be Elizabeth," she said. "I'm Jennifer, but call me Jenny." I just stared at her. "Come, Elizabeth," she said. "There's so much you need to know."
