**Neveah's POV:**

I try to push the thought of my mom's death out of my mind. To distract myself, I decide to visit my friend Kayla (pic in mm). Kayla lives on her own and has a three-year-old daughter. Since there aren't many kids Faith's age where we live, I thought this would be fun for both of us.

**At Kayla's House:**

Kayla: *"AHHHHHH! Oh my gosh, heyyyyy girl!"* she exclaims, practically popping my eardrum with her excitement.

Neveah: *"Hey! I heard you got your own place and a little girl, so I decided to bring Faith over."*

Kayla: *"Ki'andra, you have a friend here!"*

As the girls start playing together, Kayla and I settle down to chat.

Neveah: *"So, when did you have her?"*

Kayla: *"I... I was pregnant the day you came to visit me at the foster house."*

Neveah: *"WHAT?! And you didn't tell me? I thought we were supposed to be best friends!"*

Kayla: *"I tried telling you, but you kept talking about how you have a private jet and limousine and how you're living the life. The only time I got to talk was when I said hi and bye."*

Neveah: *"I know I was being harsh, but you could have at least told me by cutting me off in the middle of my sentence."*

Kayla: *"You're right."*

We sit in silence for a moment, the weight of our conversation hanging in the air. Eventually, I tell Kayla about August, and she insists I give him a second chance. It's now or never.

Neveah: *"LET'S GO, FAITH! SAY BYE TO AUNTIE KAYLA AND COUSIN KI'ANDRA!"*

**At Home:**

I decide to call August over to give him his second chance. He says he'll be right over.

**August's POV:**

Yes! My baby, the love of my life, is deciding to give me a chance. I better run over to her house.

**Neveah's POV:**

The doorbell rings, and to my surprise, it's August.

Neveah: *"Hey, I thought you wouldn't come."*

August: *"Why wouldn't I come? I mean, it's you that called me. I would've shown up even if you didn't."*

Neveah: *"Stalker much?!"* We both start laughing. *"So, I called you here because you're the only guy that won't give up on being with me, and I love you, August. As much as you love me. But will you be faithful to me by keeping your hands off of me and not leaving me when I need you the most?"*

August: *"I will never leave you. I will protect you and Faith like a hawk. I love you, Neveah Knowles."*

Neveah: *"I love you, August Garcia."*

And I ended the night with a kiss.

**The Next Day:**

Waking up the next morning, I feel a bit lighter. The burden of grief and loneliness doesn't seem as heavy. I decide to take Faith to the park, hoping the fresh air will do us both some good.

**At the Park:**

Faith is running around, laughing and playing with other kids. It's a beautiful sight, and I can't help but smile. August joins us, and seeing him interact with Faith makes me feel even more confident in my decision to give him another chance.

August: *"She's amazing, just like her mom."*

Neveah: *"Thank you. I'm glad we're doing this."*

August: *"Me too. Let's take it one day at a time."*

We spend the day at the park, playing with Faith and talking about our future. It feels good to have a plan, to think about what's next for us.

**Later That Evening:**

Back at home, I put Faith to bed and sit on the couch with August. We talk about our past, our mistakes, and our hopes for the future. It's a deep conversation, one that brings us closer together.

Neveah: *"I was really scared to trust you again, you know."*

August: *"I know, and I'm going to prove to you that you made the right choice."*

Neveah: *"I believe you. I want us to be a family."*

August: *"We are a family."*

We end the night with another kiss, a promise of a new beginning.

**The Following Week:**

The next week is a whirlwind of activity. I start looking for a new job, wanting to provide a better life for Faith and myself. August helps out around the house, proving his commitment to our family. We spend a lot of time together, rebuilding our relationship and creating new memories.

**A Month Later:**

A month later, things are starting to fall into place. I get a job offer that I'm excited about, and August has been nothing but supportive. Faith is happier than ever, and our little family feels complete.

Neveah: *"I'm so proud of us, August. We've come a long way."*

August: *"We have, and I'm looking forward to our future together."*

Neveah: *"Me too. Here's to new beginnings."*

We toast to our future, ready to face whatever comes our way, together.
