**Neveah's POV:**
Back home, I'm giving August the silent treatment. I can't bear to look at his face. But I have to give him credit for one thing—he sure knows how to dress our princess. Faith looks adorable in her outfit.
August breaks the silence. "Did you really mean to give me the ring back?"
"August, do you think I'm crazy? You lied to me, neglected me, and now you're telling me all this stuff. Hell yeah, I meant to give you that ring back," I snap.
"Listen, ma, I understand you're mad, but my whole family thinks the wedding's still on. What am I supposed to tell them?"
"I don't know, maybe your ass got rejected by your ex-fiancé again," I retort, my tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Do you hear yourself? You're just a selfish bitch. All you want is your life to be perfect. But let me tell you something, one day you'll realize you're in the wrong and you'll want me back," August fires back.
"Shut the hell up. My dad always used to tell me not to worry about men—just work, grind, and get money. Now I know why he said that, because I'd run into dumbasses like you."
"I'm a dumbass, okay. But I helped you get to where you're at. Without me, you ain't shit."
"I ain't shit, okay. But YOU aren't gonna be shit when you're dead in a coffin."
"You bitc—"
Ring. Ring.
August answers his phone. "Hello?"
Kayla's voice comes through the line. "Can you come over? But don't tell Neveah I'm the one that sent you."
"I'll be there, boss," August replies before hanging up.
"Listen, ma, I gotta go," he says, giving me a kiss on the cheek as he walks out.
**August's POV:**
I arrive at Kayla's place, curiosity gnawing at me. "What do you need?"
"I need a sideman. Mind sleeping with me?" Kayla asks, her tone casual.
"You dirty bitch, I'm not gonna mess up like that. I'm still with Neveah," I respond, my anger barely contained.
"But she talks mad shit behind your back," Kayla presses.
Kayla is attractive, with her dark skin and confident demeanor. But Neveah, with her caramel complexion, curvy figure, and fierce attitude, is even more stunning. I'm not gonna mess up like that.
"I gotta go," I say firmly, leaving her place.
When I get home, I tell Neveah everything about Kayla's proposition.
**Neveah's POV:**
August told me that Kayla wanted to sleep with him. I already knew she was gonna do that—it was a plan we made to see if he was really faithful to me, and he passed the test.
"I'm tired, babe. I'm gonna go take a shower and check on Faith. Goodnight," I say, heading upstairs.
We always get into big arguments, but at the end of the day, we cool down and things get back to normal.
"Mommy, are you happy?" Faith's little voice pulls me from my thoughts.
"I'm getting there. Goodnight, mommy's favorite princess. I love you," I say, giving her a kiss.
"Mommy!!" she calls out again as I'm about to leave.
"Yes?"
"I love you more," she says with a big smile.
