*Book 1* Once In A Blue Moon *Completed*

Chapter 12

When I was out running everybody from my pack decided to come and join me. We were all in a field messing about with Alpha keeping a watchful eye over us. I playfully bit Brad's ear as Dave bit his tail. He growled at us and tried to nip us but we were both too fast.

We all enjoyed picking on Brad in wolf form because he was so big. Brad managed to pin me down and was about to bite my neck but I kicked his belly with both my back legs and rolled out from under him. As I was about to pin him down Rose barreled into me then tripped over so we both ended up rolling all over the place. Everybody let out wolf-y chuckles at her clumsiness.

We carried on playing for about half an hour before people started getting tired. Alpha was led on his belly with his head on his paws. I walked over and laid down next to him, resting my head on his back. Brad came over and snuggled into me putting a paw over me protectively. Rose and Mitch came and led by our feet, Dave and Harry curling up in front of me and Ant lying the other side of Alpha. If anyone was to look on the field, they'd just see eight wolves all curled up snuggling each other protectively.

'What made you want to go out for a run Moo?' Alpha asked gently. We all kept the pack mind link open so we could all converse together.

'I spoke to Alcide. He wants to give this mate thing a try.' I sighed out through my nose, closing my eyes enjoying the afternoon sun on us. I felt Brad hug me closer and burry his head in the crock of my neck.

'Do you want to be his mate?' Alpha continued.

'On some level I do. But I don't know if it's because I want him or just want a mate.' I explained.

'What's stopping you from saying yes?' Dave asked.

'I feel like he's only interested in me because I'm a blue wolf. I feel like if I was just a normal wolf and I wasn't a pack fighter, just your everyday wolf, he wouldn't even look in my direction twice. I think that even if we do start anything, he's just going to cheat on me. I don't really feel like I know him, like the whole time we've been here and he found out who I am he's just been avoiding me. This whole thing is so confusing! Why me?' I grumbled.

'For what it's worth I think you should give him a chance.' Alpha commented.

'Why?' I almost sneered, more surprised by his response than anything.

'Because I know the magic of a mate bond. I know you have all these worries and insecurities but if you give this a chance, you'll realize that once you both except the bond there's no going back. There's only forwards. You're a special wolf Milly. I mean that as who you are. You're so kind and caring and thoughtful. You're tough and go for what you want and don't take any shit from anybody. You might be a blue wolf but you are so much more. I would give anything to hold or even see my mate again. Yours is still here. Go for it.'

'Yeah Milly. You're lucky enough to have met your mate, go for it before it's too late.' Ant said.

'Okay guys, I'll give him one chance. If he screws up, I'm going back home.' Everybody agreed with me. We stayed quiet for a few more minutes, just enjoying sunbathing and the comfort from one another before Mitch sat up quickly and looked at us with wide eyes.

'What is it?' I murmured, still kind of dosey from being quiet in the sun for so long.

'Tonight's the full moon.' He replied. Everybody stiffened around me, my eyes going wide.

'Oh crap.' I groaned. I don't have the energy for this, 'You sure?'  He nodded his head lying back down. 'Think we should get Alcide's pack to join us tonight?' I asked. Everybody was quiet for a few heartbeats.
