It had been about six weeks since all the packs have moved here. Once a week we sent scouts out to the Alpha's territory to make sure there were no rogues and no one else was taking the land. So far everything was quiet. Too quiet for my liking.
Training was going really well. Everyone was up to speed and was now training with weapons just in case. There were a few serious injuries but I healed them quickly so they were as good as new.
"Hey." Ryan sat down next to me in the pack house back garden. I rested my head on his shoulder, soaking up the afternoon sun. "How are you feeling?" He asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
"Good, considering we're training to go to war. I am slightly concerned how quiet it's been however."
"Yeah, my wolf feels unsettled. Most people's do but I think that's because of you."
"Excuse me?" I asked, sitting up properly to look at him.
"Our wolves can pick up your emotions. You know how I said you had this calming way about you? I think it's that. Our wolves just sense what you're feeling." I rested my head back on his shoulder. Makes sense. I took a deep breath just enjoying the stillness whilst it lasted.
"Hi guys." Rose said coming and sitting on Ryan's other side. "I don't mean to interrupt."
"It's okay." Ryan and I both said at the same time, then giggled. We all chatted for a bit before everyone from Gray's pack came over. Everyone was sat around just chilling and talking to each other. I missed this. I missed these guys.
"You okay Milly?" Brad asked, putting a hand on my leg.
"Yeah. I just miss how things use to be, y'no?" They all hummed in agreement.
"You mean before you all had to come here?" Ryan asked. I could hear the hurt in his voice.
"Not at all. I miss being normal wolves and just hanging out with my pack." He nodded his head in understanding. Not long after even more wolves came to join us and before long almost everyone was here. I looked around at everyone with a slight smile on my face. Everyone has really come together in this time of need. I could sense Alcide leave his office and make his way over to us.
"Milly, there's an Alpha on the phone for you." He said handing me the phone and sitting next to me.
"Hello?"
"Queen Milly! Hi it's Tony from the New Moon pack."
"Hi Tony, everything okay?" I could hear a slight panic in his voice. I knew he was one of the packs that didn't join us. He was an older Alpha, probably early fifties and very set in his ways.
"My pack has just been attacked but not by rogues, by hunters." I felt my blood run ice cold. I could feel Alcide stiffen next to me and the air around me completely changed, everyone looking at me. The wolves close by would have been able to hear Tony on the phone.
"Hunters?" I asked, my eyes going wide with shock.
"Yes. They had silver bullets and weapons coated in wolfs bane, we could smell rogues on them so I think they are now working together." This isn't good. Hunters are rare these days, to the point of never really hearing anything of them. Either the rogues have found them to help take us out or they found the rogues. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.
"Was anybody hurt?" I asked.
"A few but we got the bullets out in time."
"What are your plans?"
"I was going to ask, if it's not too late, to come and join you."
"Of course not. Please come down. What's your mobile, I'll send you the address." This is bad news if hunters and rogues have teamed up. "Let me know when you're on your way and when to expect you so we can make sure there's no ambush waiting for you."
