POEM #24: EMBER
Sharp eyes brew in aimless dark,
Burning ember, as shadows lurk.
No flame in sight, nothing to devour—
The venom spikes as flesh turns sour.
Beware of the glint in watchful eyes—
Take part in silence, cut those ties.
Hate lingers like poison in the mouth,
A sharp note, as everything goes south.
Comfort, it awaits in places that are near,
Keep eyes on the serpent, fueled in fear.
It does not cry, it does not storm out,
But it creeps along, facing your route.
