POEM #25: ACID
As acid drips on top of your chest,
The mind forgets, you still can't rest.
Like bushes pushing below the skin,
It punctures, it twists, it needles in.
It seams its way inside your face,
Haunting you every hour, a solo-race.
It binds with the vines in your heart,
Clinging to its host, never to depart.
It has buried itself so strong, so deep,
Curling itself, now ready for sleep.
Do not wait for it to rise and shine—
Poison it with your life, drown it in wine.
