Fragmented
Dreams come easy each night
Wrapped beneath a frail layer
Separating us from the rest of the world
We would all sleep
Huddled together in common warmth
Of a poor but loved family
We are all we had for each other
And all we wanted
Never would we have guessed
That destruction would shatter
Our lives
To irreparable fragments
Of a reality; lost to war
As the sky lit up on one side of the world
in multitudes of color
To celebrate independence
And the mark of new beginnings
The sky rained down
on us
Our ultimate destroyer
Creating worlds of blood and fire
Ending us
Before we even began.
