Break (me) Up
I'll never forget
the way she looked at me that night
or rather, tried not to
averting her eyes
from the unforgiving reality
settling into my faceHad I misheard her
or were those her words
piercing my disbelieving heart'This is over'
no, it couldn't be
'I don't feel like I'm in the right place'
but you fix all my wrongs
'I'm so sorry'
don't do this to us.Is it something I've done
to deserve this cruel fate
our love couldn't possibly end
not now, not this waybut you leave me
with a heart-rendering smile
and turn away
my eyes memorizing the foot prints
in the icy snow
as my heart beat slows.the world spins
nothing matters any more
there is no future
there was never a pastall i feel is this moment
consuming me
in heart-wrenching pain
an eternal misery.
