The Chains that Bind
He could smell the blood
on his hands, on his face
in the air as the skies
rain red. They're invisible to the rest
who wander having never
seen, tasted, felt
Death.Their ignorance is his anger
gone awry by fate
and when touched by darkness
their faces appear .His comrades
whose smiles and dreams
were sacrificed for a cause
for a humanity and a world corrupted
by monsters.Lives placed in his hand
slipped too far out his grasp
to Death's quick escape
they let go
they left him.He breathes again
survives
a new day has arrived
and darkness' lull
dissipates to light.Humanity's Strongest Soldier
his title defies
the weight of the truth
that's killing him
inside.The blood that haunts him
rattles the chains
of the life he's tied to
of the promise he made.Inspired by Shingeki no Kyojin
