A Rule of Magic
As a child, she never believed in monsters
She never believed in darkness or fear
Or in the nightmares that would pry ones mind the way they did mine
She only believed in magic
In goodness and truth
In the possibility of eternal joy
I spent a great many years watching her
Prance about the garden on her toes
Greeting faeries and petting dragons
Which only she could see
And as she blossomed into a mature heir to the throne
The harshness of the world had touched her
But not enough, never enough
To kill the purity of her dreams.I cannot help but see her grow
Follow her every step into the throne
For though I may hide in her shadows I shall never break away
The loyal, invisible servant to a believer of life
Destined to be queen.
