Chapter 5

*last day of school (Friday)*


MARIA'S POV



Finally, the last day of school. That means only a week left until we move to Orlando! Normally, I wouldn't have taken my mom's bullshit about moving but now that Kristina's coming I'm actually excited! So, I got up out of bed, and walked over to my outfit and stated at it. We were allowed to wear what we want the last day of school. I had picked out my red and white striped tank top with a tie at the front with my black high waisted short shorts, a light pink bow, and my converse. I had never liked being a total girly girl or a total tomboy, so I went in between.

"And we danced all night to the best song ever..!" I sang. I totally love One Direction's new song.

"Oh fuck!" I said as I looked at the clock. I had ten minutes to eat before I had to go to school. Same old, same old, spending too much time on my cover-up and hair. Whatever. I'll have a fiber bar.

"Hi Dad!" I said. Since Vinny was done with school, it was just me and Dad up this early for the week.

"Hi! You ready?" He asked.

"Yup." I said. Once we were done with our usual greetings, I grabbed my back pack and went to the front seat. I was in my own world, thinking about moving so I didn't even hear Dad when he told me we were there.

"What?" I asked.

"I said we're here."

"Okay. Thanks! Bye!"

"No problem! Bye!"

I walked up the steps to my high school and I could have sworn I just heard someone singing I Like That by Before You Exit. I'm probably just hallucinating again. Toby and the rest of the band, but especially Toby, still have not gotten out of my head. I just gave up on Wednesday, coming to the conclusion that they're not gonna leave my mind.

I walked to my locker, which was across from Kristina's locker because of our last names. As soon as she saw my she screamed my name from down the hall, earning her weird looks.

"KRISTINA!" I screamed right back. The other kids in the hallway started snickering when we got scolded by a teacher.

"Dickhead." I heard Kristina mutter under her breath.

"Tell me about it." I said, laughing.

"So, you hyped?!"

"Definitely! You?!"

"Of course! We might even meet Before You Exit!"

"Yup. Speaking of them, I have not been able to get them out of my mind," I started," especially Toby. I just can't stop thinking about him." I whispered to her.

"I get it. Same with Riley. But the thought of him comes and goes."

"Lucky. The thought of Toby never leaves my mind. It's gonna be bad once I actually see him in person, if we do. I mean, I might actually faint! Or I could vomit! Or I could totally admit that he hasn't left my mind for this past week! Or I could just embarrass myself by saying I snore!"

"Maria, calm down. It's gonna be fine. I know you hear this a lot, and I probably won't be the last one to tell you this, but just be yourself and if the ass doesn't like you, then it's his loss."

"Okay. What about you and Riley? Aren't you freaking out about him?"

"Yeah. But I'm freaking out about Connor more."

"I thought you like love Riley!"

"Yeah. But I just noticed Connor now. But my crushes aren't as bad as yours, honey."

"Lucky you."

The bell to first period rang. First period was one of two classes that I didn't have with Kristina. Ughh!

"Well, I'll catch ya after class, sweetie. Good luck! And try to concentrate!" Kristina said, smirking at the last part.

"Okay. See ya later, love! You too! And whatever! You still gotta figure out your feelings!" I said, returning the smirk.

"Fine! Wow, we both have it pretty bad." She said while shaking her head.

"Definitely. Well, we have each other!"

"Yup!"

"Okay! Bye! See ya later!"

"Bye!"

This is gonna be a long day; Toby hasn't left my mind since I woke up! Oh boy. Let the boringness and the Tobyness to begin.



KRISTINA'S POV


Oh my God. I like Riley and Connor. Oh my God. Well, Braiden and Thomas are pretty hot too. Oh my fucking God! What the hell is happening to me?! The next thing I need is to think Toby is hot. Well, he's definitely hot, and definitely off limits and not my type. Whatever. I just really gotta figure out which one I have true feelings for, if I do.

I walked up to the math classroom. Maria and I only have separate classes because she takes honors Spanish and English and I take honors math and Latin. Luckily, my honors classes are at the same time her honors classes are. Maria and I both have another best friend in our honors classes though. Maria's is Kaitlin. I took my seat next to Jenna, my other best friend.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey." She replied. She looked like she's hiding something.

"What are you hiding?"

"Nothing."

"I can see right through you, Jenna Jackson."

"Fine. Good or bad first?"

"Good."

"Okay. Well, my dad works with Maria's dad, and he also got transferred..."

"OH MY GOD! NO FUCKING WAY!" I screamed. Luckily, Mrs. Morrs wasn't in the classroom yet and none of the students care.

"YES FUCKING WAY! IM MOVING TO ORLANDO WITH YOU GUYS!"

"OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!"

We started doing our happy dance and screaming and laughing while all the student were whispering about how weird we were. Bitches.

"Okay. Now the bad news..." Jenna trailed off.

"Yup..."

"Okay. So I overheard Kaitlin talking to Jeremy about how slutty Maria, you, and I are. Then she said the she was going to Orlando for a week in the summer and in that week she was gonna find Toby and make him date her to break Maria, and to get the guy she's crushing on. She also said that she will do whatever it takes to break Maria, and maybe you and I while she's at it."

My mouth dropped.

"That's not true."

Jenna played a video on her phone with Kaitlin's and Jeremy's voices and few background voices. I didn't even bother to ask why she taped it, because I knew why. It's because she knew I'd never believe her. But, Jenna was telling the truth.

"How could she! Toby has been on Maria's mind non-stop this whole week! How could she hurt her best friend!" I exclaimed.

"Have you ever noticed Kaitlin making faces at us when we're not looking ever since Maria told us about her dad's transfer?"

"No."

"Well I have. I think that Kaitlin knew all along that we might meet Toby, so being the spoiled bitch she is, she went and told her parents that she wanted to visit Maria in Orlando. And of course the said okay. They said how ever long you want to stay, we just gotta be back a week before school starts."

"That bitch. She's using us, mostly Maria, but still."

"Yup. She was always our friend, that's for sure, but when she figured out that a girl like Maria is moving to Orlando and is a threat to 'her and her future boyfriend/husband's relationship', she goes psycho."

"What a friend she is. Well, we gotta warn Maria. My parents aren't home until 5:30 so you both can come home with me and sleep over."

"Thanks. I'll call and ask my mom after school."

"Okay."

Mrs. Morrs walked in, 13 minutes late as always. Once she started the lesson, I zoned out, my brain going from trying to figure out my feelings, to being completely pissed at that fucking bitch that Maria, Jenna, and I thought was our best friend.
