MARIA'S POV

"Psstt.... Smiley, wake up." someone whispered in my ear.

I groaned.

"C'mon, Smiley, wake up." the person whispered again.

I rolled over. "What time is it?"

"4am."

I opened one eye slightly, and saw Toby. Then, I fully opened both my eyes.

"What on Earth are you doing, Tobes?" I asked him irritatingly.

"So you're not a morning person I see." Toby smiled.

"Not at all," I mumbled.

"So what are you doing up and why are you waking me?" I continued.

"Because I wanna take you somewhere." he said.

"Where?"

"It's a secret. Just trust me."

"Ugh, okay. What will I need to wear?"

"Nothing different, just a sweatshirt."

"Okay." I murmured as I slipped on Toby's sweatshirt.

"Sure, you can go where my clothes. That's totally fine."

I giggled. "I know. That's why half of your clothes are in my wardrobe."

"Why do girls like boys' clothes so much?"

"Because they're comfy and they smell good and they're big and they remind us of the boy who matters most to us." I explained as I walked over to Toby and wrapped my arms around him.

He automatically wrapped his arms around me too.

I looked up at him. Then, I leaned in and kissed him.

We had kissed for a few minutes when Toby pulled away.

"Why do you always get me so distracted?" he asked.

"Why do YOU always me so distracted?" I asked Toby, turning the question on him.

He smiled and pecked my nose.

"Let's go." Toby said, practically dragging me out the door.

"Woah, woah. Where exactly are we going at 4:30 in the morning?" I asked him.

Toby pulled out two blankets and said, "To the beach. We're going to watch the sunrise. Happy first date."

"Oh my God, Tobes, that's so sweet and romantic." I appreciated.

Toby just smiled at me.

He set our two blankets on the beach directly in front of where the light of the sun was already beginning to appear. Then, he gestured for me to sit.

I did, and Toby sat right next to me. I put my head on his shoulder and he put his head on mine as his arm snaked around my back.

As Toby and I watched the sun rise, I thought about how beautiful my life really was. Even if Toby wasn't my soul mate, I'm just happy to have him here to share this moment with me.

The sunrise ended about 15 minutes later and I lifted my head off of Toby's shoulders. I gripped his cheeks with both my hands and pulled his face down to meet mine. The kiss was full of love, love, and more love. I can't believe a boy this amazing could be called mine... I'm still in denial to be honest...

I pulled away and looked into Toby's eyes, which were filled with pride, probably in himself for making me so happy.

"Thank you so much." I said quietly.
