TOBY'S POV
()()(ONE MONTH LATER)()()
"Are you okay, babe?" I asked Kaitlin. She seemed a little nervous.
"I need to ask you and the guys a favor." she replied while fiddling with the bracelet I had gotten her a week ago for our two month anniversary.
"What is it?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
"I can't say now. It has to be in front of Connor, Riley, Thomas, Braiden, and you." she said.
"Okay. When do you want to do it?"
"Is now okay?"
"Yeah. I left all of the guys at the house playing video games."
As we walked back to my house, I couldn't help but think of what this 'favor' included and what Jenna, Kris, and Maria told us a little over a month ago. I haven't been able to get them and the letter they left for us out of my head. Were they really telling the truth? Or were they faking? Would they really move away if they were faking? Would they really make up a story like that for no good reason?
No. Braiden can't be right. Jeremy can't be right. Tam can't be right. None of them can be right. It's just not possible. Why would Kaitlin do this? For fame, wealth, and well, us like the girls said? How can she send Tam to kill them? She couldn't. I mean, look at her. Kaitlin is very short and skinny, skinnier than usual though.... Wait. Could she really be crazy? Having an eating disorder and trying to kill people?
Those thoughts have to wait. We're back at the house.
As soon as we walked into the game room all eyes turned towards us. I'm actually very surprised Braiden is here. He barely hangs out with us anymore. It's because he thinks that the girls were telling the truth. All he does now is mope around. And now... Now he's giving Kaitlin the hardest glare I've ever seen on him.
"I've come to ask a favor." she started.
They all shrugged, except Braiden who was still glaring. I guess he wasn't going to give up.
BRAIDEN'S POV
I've been trying for the last month to find Jeremy, Tam, Jenna, Kris, and Maria. And I finally did. Since I knew the girls and Jeremy pretty well I knew that they did not have anywhere to go. But, Tam might have. He looked like he had a lot of money on him. So, I looked up Tam Mallory and found his parent's name on his birth certificate. Then I looked up everything own by the Chris and Nicole Mallory. I found out that his family owned a house in New York, where his parents and siblings lived, with the rest of his family close by, an apartment in Orlando, and a summer house about an hour away from his parents' house. That had to be it. So, one day I told the guys I was going out to see my family that I coincidently have in New York. But, I really went to see Jenna, Kris, Maria, Jeremy, and Tam. As soon as Maria answered the door, she started sobbing and slammed the door in my face. A few moments later, Jeremy opened it with Tam close behind him. It took about an hour of convincing but they finally let me in. I told Kris that I wasn't thinking, but my feelings for her were fading. She said she felt the same but with everything else that happened, she was shocked and upset.
After talking for five hours, we made up. I also told them that I would keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary, like Kaitlin asking all of us for a favor today.
So, I quietly took my phone out, pretended to check my messages, but I turned my voice audio recording app thingy on and put it faced down on my lap. I've tested it out and it can go on for as long as I want, can be sent to someone, and doesn't make any noise while recording. It's a pretty awesome app.
"Okay, so, I wanted to ask all of you a very important favor. First, do you trust me?" Kaitlin started.
I wanted to say no, but I nodded my head.
"I've been thinking about what happened lately and realized that the girls did lie, that you would never do anything to harm them, and that they just wanted the attention. Even though it was hard to believe, I trust you." I said to Kaitlin when they all looked at me with shock written on their face. I hoped it sounded real enough, because that was all obviously a total lie, and I hate lying with all my heart,
Kaitlin smiled. "Good. So, I need you all to help me track them down and kill them along with Jeremy and Tam."
Everyone just sat there, mouths agape, horror on their faces.
"Wha- why?" Toby stuttered.
"Because we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. We could live peacefully without their constant lies going through our heads." Kaitlin replied.
I can't believe she just said that. You have got to be kidding me.
"Okay, fine. That was a little stretch, I just wanted to see if you agree. But, if none of you listen to what I say, I will kill everyone you love, but not the girls and Jeremy and Tam." Kaitlin said, venom clear in her voice.
"Are you serious?" Riley said.
"I am. Don't push me." she said, suddenly twirling a knife in her hands. Then, she threw it and it landed right in the center of the door knob.
"Toodles." Kaitlin said, wiggled her fingers, got the knife, then left.
TOBY'S POV
"They were telling the truth all along. They had to be." I whispered.
"How can we be so stupid?" Connor whispered too.
"Uh, correction. How could you four be so stupid? I knew all along they weren't lying. Even went to see them." Braiden said.
"You what?!" Thomas exclaimed.
"I. went. to. see. them." Braiden repeated slowly.
"You know where they are?" Riley asked.
"I do. But, I'm not risking telling anyone how I found out." he replied.
"Why not?" Connor said.
"Because she may be listening now. Just because I lied to her doesn't mean she's going to hurt the people I love. I didn't do anything to her. I listened to her. So she can't do anything."
"What if she's not listening?" I asked.
"Toby, she's blackmailing us. She could be watching us in our sleep. Would you take this chance?"
"No.." I muttered.
"Decision settled then. Let's just do what she wants until we can find a way out of this."
"Deal. Oh and by the way.... I'm sorry for not believing you and the others." I said.
"Me too." Connor, Riley, and Thomas said.
"It's not my place to forgive you, it's theirs." Braiden said then left.
I can't believe they were telling the truth. I can't believe I left with Kaitlin that night that she punched Maria. I can't believe how much I must have hurt Maria and the others. I can't believe I hurt them so much that they moved away. I can't believe I lost my best friends, and now one of them was dating Tam. I lost my chance of being with Maria. And from what they wrote, I wonder if I ever will have the chance the be with Maria.
