Chapter 40

MARIA'S POV

Jenna, Kris, and I were at the police station with Olivia. She seemed seriously distressed and the girls and I were growing nervous.

Detectives Stabler, Rollins, and Finn stood behind Olivia as she told us the news.

Tears started to roll down our faces. This can't be happening.

"We are so sorry, girls." Olivia said.

We didn't answer.

"Do you know anyone who would do this?" Detective Rollins asked.

"My father." I immediately said.

"Isn't your father deceased?" Detective Stabler asked.

"Yes. But I meant my step-father."

"Why would he do this?" Detective Finn asked.

"Because he wants the power and the money." Kris cut in.

"So he's working with them?" Olivia asked.

"Yes. And that is why he set them free." Jenna said.

sorry it's a super short chapter but I thought this would be a good cliff hanger! it won't be for long though! next chapter should be up in about an hour!
