"Jace, go. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself." I chuckled, arms hanging loosely around his broad shoulders.

"I know you are, but I'd still prefer to have you close." He mumbled, forehead resting against my own as the words left his mouth.

"I could always come along with you guys.." I trailed off, watching as Jace shook his head.

"Not a chance. We'll take care of everything, no need for you to be put in unnecessary danger." He stated, making me role my eyes at him.

"Jace, it's a bunch of demons, nothing I haven't come to face before. I did take part in the mortal war, you know." I chuckled, watching as he cracked a slight smile.

"That, my little red head, was enough commotion to last you a life time." He chuckled, whilst I widened my eyes in offence.

"Hey! I could get through it all over again if I had to, and you know it." I stated.

"I know, I know. But there will be no need for that, yeah?" He spoke, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, hand lingering on the side of my check.

"Promise me you'll be careful, okay?" I questioned, resting my head against his chest as he embraced me in his arms.

"Always am, baby." He whispered, placing a soft kiss on top of my head.

"You better hurry, Alec and Izzy are probably waiting for you." I chuckled, handing him the all too familiar black leather jacket.

"I love you." He smiled, shrugging his leather jacket on as I followed him out of our room.

"I love you too, be safe." I reminded, crossing my arms over my chest as I watched him head down the stairs.

He left through the big double doors with both Izzy and Alec, and soon enough, they were out of sight.

I headed back into our room once I knew I was alone, sighing as I laid down on Jace's side of the bed, inhaling the familiar scent that I adored.

I closed my eyes, trying to block out the waves of pain running throughout my whole body.

I hadn't been feeling myself for about two weeks now, I constantly felt ill and incapable of doing things; and I hated it. I hadn't told Jace, nor did I plan on it. It was surely just a bug, there was nothing for him to fuss about.

I decided to head downstairs and find something to eat, so I got up and made my way down the long staircase, petting Church on my way down.

I walked into the kitchen in the enormous institute, pulling the grey cardigan tighter around my body as the cool breeze hit me, making me shiver.

I opened up the fridge, and to my dismay, it was practically empty. I rummaged through it in attempt to find Alec's stash of blueberries, even though it'd probably result in me finishing off the pack and him murdering me for it, but oh well.

"Gotcha." I mumbled under my breath as I reached up and grabbed the packet, placing them next to the sink as I shut the fridge.

I grabbed a plate and opened them up as I began to wash the fruit, but as soon as the sweet taste of the berries touched my lips, I quickly dropped the pack and bolted for the small bathroom, spitting out the single piece I'd attempted to swallow.

Nausea took over me as soon as I inhaled the scent, and I was throwing my lunch up before I knew it.

I gripped the sides of the toilet as I kneeled down, tucking my hair behind my ear as I emptied the remains of my stomach.

I leaned back once I was done, exhaling loudly as I got up. I flushed the toilet and leaned against the sink, bending over to brush my teeth to rid the horrible taste.

I dried my mouth with a towel and remained in my spot, gripping onto the bathroom counter as I stared at my reflection.

What on earth is wrong with me?

I exited the bathroom and walked back through the long hall, dizziness hitting me in waves. I screwed my eyes shut as I hurried towards the front room, searching around for my phone.

I spotted it quick enough and grasped it with shaky hands, dialling the all too familiar number as fast as I could.

"Hey Clary, what's up?" The familiar voice sounded so distant, so quiet, I could barely process the sound.

"S-simon..can you come over? Like, right now?" I breathed out heavily, gripping onto the back of the sofa for support.

"Yeah sure, are you okay? Clary, what's going on?" He questioned, the sound of his voice coming through the phone sounding more distant with each word he spoke.

"I..I d-don't know." I mumbled out, barely able to form words.

"Clary stay with me, alright? I'll be there as quick as I can, just breath, you're alright." He spoke reassuringly.

"Simon.." I trailed off, unable to form the rest of my sentence as the dizziness hit me worse than before. I lost my grip on the sofa, as well as my phone.

It dropped somewhere nearby, because I could still hear Simon's panicking voice on the other line.

I couldn't muster another word, another step, and soon enough, I fell, dragging the lamp on the counter down with me.

Glass shattered and spread across the floor as soon as it hit the ground, the sound piercing my ears as my eyes rolled back into my head, my hands dropping to my sides as it became harder and harder to breath.

"Clary?! Clary what happened?! What on earth was that noise?" Simon's quiet voice was the last thing I heard coming from my phone, before I finally lost consciousness.
