"This is getting ridiculous." I sighed in frustration, rubbing my temples in annoyance after having countless arguments with the Clave.

"We've been here all day, it's one in the morning, by the Angel." Alec sighed, taking a seat next to me, the bags under his eyes becoming more visible under the bright light.

"Who the hell decided to put them in charge of everything? They can't get anything done properly these days." I sighed, watching as Alec chuckled at me, a yawn escaping his lips.

"You miss her already, don't you?" He questioned, eyebrow raised with a small smile plastered on his face, whilst I shook my head at him, nodding slightly.

"I miss Magnus, of course I do, but you seem worried." Alec spoke, staring at me whilst we waited in the grand hall.

"We're having a baby, Alec. Of course I'm worried." I chuckled, watching as Alec cracked a smile.

"You're not the one carrying the baby here, Jace. If you're worried, imagine how Clary feels, she's the one that has to physically go through the whole process and..you know.." Alec trailed off.

"I get it Alec, trust me I do. I just don't want her suffering for it, I wish she didn't have to go through the pain." I sighed, telling my parabatai exactly what was on my mind.

"Jace, you just have to think positive. I mean come on, put yourself in her position. Yeah, she has to go through it, but the only thing on her mind during the time will be the result of meeting the baby, actually getting to hold her baby, as her mother." Alec stated, making me smile at his words.

"And besides, we'll all be by both your sides throughout the whole thing." Alec reassured.

"Thanks, Alec. I really appreciate it." I smiled, pulling my best friend in for a quick hug as we stood up.

"You're welcome. I just hope to god that she doesn't inherit her fathers ego." Alec shook his head, making me raise an eyebrow at him.

"She?" I questioned, forgetting every other word he'd said.

"I reckon it's going to be a girl. I'm the uncle, I can sense it." Alec stated whilst we walked, making me laugh once again.

"You can sense it? Alec, the baby isn't even a baby yet, it's probably what, this big?" I questioned gesturing with my hands.

"Say what you want, I'm sticking with the uncle instincts, it's going to be a girl." Alec stated.

"Well, I beg to differ, I think it's going to be a boy." I shrugged, smirking slightly as we bickered.

"Well, we'll see who's right in the end. The father, or the uncle." Alec shrugged happily, making me chuckle at him once again.

"C'mon, the sooner we get in and sort all of this, the sooner we get out." I sighed, receiving a nod off of Alec as we headed back inside.

An hour later

At exactly 2:43, the Clave finally decided to let us leave. I mean seriously, who ends meetings at almost three in the morning?

Do you want to stay the night or open up the portal and get straight back?" I questioned, following Alec out of the hall.

"I'm happy to go home, I've had enough of this square to last me a quite a while." Alec chuckled.
