"We can't hold them off forever, there aren't enough of us." Ty shouted over the intense sound of battle screams and the collision of swords.

"We have to, we need to!" Livia answered to her twins statement, swiftly dodging a demon that'd lunged for her.

"Where the hell is Sebastian?" I mumbled out in frustration to Julian as I let an arrow fly from my bow, eyes darting around the room frantically.

"I don't-" Julian began to answer, but he was cut off within seconds by a clearly recognisable booming voice.

"Now now, go easy on them my fellow followers." Sebastian's tall, lanky frame entered the main doors not even a minute later, familiar wide smirk spread across his pale face.

"Don't bother, we can take them." Emma shot back, causing Sebastian to stop dead in his tracks, an amused smile appearing across his face as he stared at Emma.

"Brave one, aren't you Carstairs? You know, you've gotten on my nerves since the day I met you." Sebastian tutted, taking slow strides towards Emma, causing Julian to quickly step forward, shielding her body with his own.

"How sweet." Sebastian gushed sarcastically, shaking his head before walking away from the pair.

"What the hell is he doing?" Ty mumbled quietly, seraph blade clutched tightly in his hand whilst I shook my head, not knowing what to say or do.

"I'm going to propose a trade." Sebastian stated, turning back to us as the crowd stood behind him, hands clasped together as the room fell silent.

"Go on." Julian stated, staring at Sebastian with curious yet doubtful eyes.

"I shall call off each and every one of my people that are here to spill blood right this second, all you have to do is give me one tiny thing in return." Sebastian explained, gesturing with his hands whilst he spoke.

"Not a chance." I stated, shaking my head negatively the second Sebastian had finished speaking.

"Oh but Alec, you didn't let me finish!" Sebastian gushed, his smirk and fake enthusiasm making my anger boil.

"You didn't have to, we know exactly what you want." Emma spat, eyes darkening whilst all Sebastian did was grin at how angry and irritated he was making everyone.

"And what might that be, Emma Carstairs?" Sebastian continued, taunting Emma as he spoke.

"You want Clary and Jace's baby." Livia spoke up from where she stood next to Ty, surprising everyone with the steady, calm and collected voice that she managed to speak with.

"I'll be doing the poor little thing a favour. I mean, growing up without a mother would be dearly awful." Sebastian sighed, reaching up to hold a hand over his heart.

"What did you just say?" I questioned, swallowing hard before speaking, hoping that I'd heard wrong.

"Oh, you didn't know? How terrible of me for not informing you sooner." Sebastian stated.

"Knowing what?" Ty demanded, hand locked tightly with his twins whilst we awaited an answer.

"Clarissa is dead." He chuckled to himself, shaking his head as his gaze settled on each and every one of our expressions.

"You're lying." I stated, shaking my head furiously whilst I watched Sebastian shrug carelessly.

"Delivering the baby ended her, there wasn't enough time to save them both." Sebastian shrugged once again, his sickening grin finally driving me over the edge.

"No.." Emma mumbled, tears clouding her vision as Julian pulled her into his arms, letting her cry whilst he held her.

"You sick twisted son of a bitch." I spat, throwing my bow aside before striding towards Sebastian with clenched fists, lunging for him as soon as I was close enough.

"She's your sister, she's your blood you careless asshole!" I shouted, punching Sebastian square in the face before he stumbled, the satisfaction of seeing him struggle even for a few seconds pumping adrenaline through my veins.

"So? That baby is also my blood, and I'm going to sacrifice it. Do I look like I care?" Sebastian scoffed, wiping away the short amount of blood that'd began dripping down his nose with the back of his sleeve.

"Over my dead body." I spat angrily, shaking my head before swinging at him once again.

"You can end this whole thing, Alec. All you need to do is hand over the child." Sebastian pressed, angering me all the more with his repetitive words.

"You just don't get it, do you? I'm willing to die if it spares that little girls life." I answered, breaking free of Sebastian's grip, kicking out swiftly but missing by a few short inches.

"How can you even care? She's not your daughter, she's not even an hour old yet." Sebastian spat back angrily, light blond hair falling in his eyes whilst I watched his chest heave.

"She's not my daughter, no. But she's my niece, she's family. It doesn't matter how old she is or who's she is; that innocent little baby is my family, therefore she becomes my responsibility. And I am not about to hand her over to someone with a mind as twisted as yours." I voiced, harshly shoving Sebastian backwards.

"That's the problem with you people. Family this, family that, who the hell cares! It makes you weak." Sebastian shouted as he got back up onto his feet, knocking me off of my own with a harsh kick to the ribs.

"It doesn't make us weak, it makes us strong. Having something to fight for will always make us stronger than you'll ever be." I spoke, spitting out a small amount of blood whilst Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head in the process.

"You see, you're still wrong. You people can't get it through your thick skulls that you aren't going to win this time. What chance do you have? Enlighten me, please." Sebastian stated enthusiastically, letting his hands fall back down to his sides.

"We've all got something worth fighting for. Each other. And that's more than you'll ever have." I answered, skilfully kicking out at his ankles.

I watched as he fell, giving me just enough time to get up, running up the stairs towards the infirmary as fast as my legs would carry me, but not before hearing Sebastian's booming words.

"Get me that baby, and get the ritual started." He shouted, anger dripping off of each and every word he pronounced like venom.
