"Clary come on!" Simon shouted out in frustration, tears rolling furiously down his cheeks as I watched my stele burn through her pale skin over and over again.
The piercing screams that filled the room only grew louder, the unsettled baby that Isabelle was trying so desperately to calm having none of the comfort that Izzy was offering.
"Shhh it's okay baby, it's okay." Isabelle shushed shakily, tears streaming down her face as she rocked the little girl.
The huge infirmary doors rattled with a shake just as the baby's cries grew louder, and in came Alec with a dreaded look spread across his face.
"No..it can't be.." Alec burst through the huge wooden doors seconds later, stopping dead in his tracks the second he laid eyes on the panorama that was unfolding right before his eyes.
"Alec what are you-" Magnus began to question, staring at Alec with a confused glance after breaking his concentration away from whatever healing spell he'd been attempting, but that only resulted in him being cut off by Alec.
"He said, Sebastian said that Clary had died during the birth..I d-didn't believe him." Alec spoke unsurely, slowly advancing towards the messy blood covered bed where Clary's pale body lay stiller than ever before.
"I thought he was just trying to get to me." Alec breathed out, eyes turning slightly watery as he pulled out his stele.
"Alec, there's no-" Simon began to speak up, but I cut him off before he had the chance to finish the sentence I really didn't want to hear.
"Don't say it. She can't be dead, she's not." I shouted, hands shaking whilst I gripped my stele tighter than I ever had before.
"We won't stop trying, calm down. I need-" Magnus began to demand, but he was cut off by a second pair of booming footsteps entering the room, followed by who knows how many others.
Sebastian marched through the doors looking as proud as ever, angered look that he wore turning into a slight smirk as he realised exactly what was going on in the infirmary.
"Such a pitiful way of wasting angel blood." Sebastian sighed, eyes trailing from Clary's lifeless body over to the tiny baby that was finally settling down in Izzy's arms.
"Not another step." Simon warned, shielding both Isabelle and the baby whilst me, Alec and Magnus continued to work furiously as we attempted to heal Clary.
"Wow, you pair really do have good genes." Sebastian stated enthusiastically, eyes never leaving the bundle of blankets as he continued to advance forward, ignoring Simon's previous words completely.
"It's gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay." I mumbled quietly, pressing a lingering kiss against Clary's cold forehead, taking a deep breath before turning around to do the one thing I needed to do now more than ever; protect my family.
"Leave." I stated loud and clear, drying my eyes before striding over towards the middle of the room where Sebastian stood.
"Jace Herondale, are those tears? Who would've thought." He chuckled, which I quickly cut off by advancing a few steps closer, roughly gripping ahold of his colar.
"Can't you see how much damage you've already caused?" I spat, earning nothing but a chuckle in return to my threatening tone.
"You knew of my plans, don't act so shocked." Sebastian scoffed, angrily pushing my hands away.
"Actually, let me rephrase that. You didn't know of all of my plans completely." Sebastian spoke up again, an amused smile spreading across his proud looking face.
"What do you mean by that?" Simon spoke up, not moving an inch from where he stood, blocking both Isabelle and the baby from Sebastian's view completely.
"Clary shouldn't have died during labour, the only reason she did was because of the ritual. In order for it to take place, the bond between mother and child must me broken, so of course, she had to die." Sebastian explained, shrugging innocently at the end of his sentence.
"So every single problem she had during the birth, the broken bones and the air shortage, was all because of you?" Magnus questioned, cold glare set directly on Sebastian.
"Exactly. In order for me to inherit my power, Clary had to die. Of course this is how it was going to go from the beginning, I just thought a little suspense would be fun." Sebastian smirked, making my blood boil more and more with every single word that he spoke.
"Is this all just some sort of game to you?" I spat, shaking my head whilst directing my angry tone towards the person I loathed.
"Not a game exactly, just a simple planning to make myself stronger. Call me self-centred if you like, I really don't care." Sebastian chuckled once again.
"You careless, inconsiderate little-" Alec began to speak, finally letting go of his stele before advancing towards both me and the devil himself, who quickly cut Alec off.
"Son of a bitch, asshole, shit, bastard? Take your pick, insult me however you like Alexander." Sebastian chuckled once again, causing Alec to glare before picking his next words carefully.
"You think you're that great? Look around you S-" Alec began to speak, but Magnus' shaky voice silenced the whole room.
"S-she's breathing." He stuttered out, wide smile spreading across his face whilst my heart race picked up rapidly, eyes widening as I watched Magnus press both fingers against Clary's neck.
"That's not possible." Sebastian mumbled, eyes darkening as he watched closely, noticing much to his dismay that Clary's chest was now rising and falling, ever so slowly, once again.
"The connection must've been severed in some sort of-" One of the men who had accompanied Sebastian suddenly spoke up nervously, earning a simple yet violent hand wave off of Sebastian in return.
"Can't you people follow simple orders around here? You know what never mind, I'll kill her myself." Sebastian sighed in boredom whilst I quickly turned back to Clary, tears pooling in my eyes once again as I saw that she was in fact breathing.
"Clary didn't do this on her own you know, she couldn't jus jumpstart her breathing out of nowhere." Magnus spoke up, reaching over for a clean cloth to wipe away at least some of the endless amount of blood that covered her pale body which was finally regaining back some of its colour.
"Then how on earth is she alive?" I questioned in disbelief, relief washing through me over and over again.
"We've got a little miracle baby on our hands." Magnus spoke up, smiling as he glanced over at the sleeping frame of my daughter in Isabelle's arms.
"How did she-" Alec began to question, but Simon was quick to cut him off.
"Uh, guys? We've got bigger problems on our hands right now." He stated, signalling towards an outrageous faced Sebastian, black eyes set on two things.
Clary's stable body, and the sleeping bundle of blankets in Izzy's arms.
