Chapter 23

I didn't tell Danny about the black liquid that left my lips. I'd cleaned myself up and gone out again, saying that it was just a headache and that a pill would make it go away.

"I'm fine, really," I repeated to him. Atticus showed up later, still growling at Danny, frowning at me, slamming the front door and stomping off to his room.

"Guess that's my cue to leave," Danny laughed. I chuckled and nodded at him.

"Yeah, it's getting a bit late, anyway. Headquarters will probably want you back before sunset. Probably two more hours left before sunset, so you best get going."

Danny leaned down to kiss my cheek, but stopped himself when we heard a loud, threatening growl. I looked up and saw Atticus halfway down the stairs, staring at us with enraged electric blue eyes.

Danny cleared his throat and took a step back.

He waved at me and smiled. "Bye, Vitani. I'll call you if I hear any news or plans."

I nodded at him. "That sounds good. Take care, Danny."

As soon as the door shut, I felt myself being pushed towards the wall. I braced myself for the hit that my back would take, but it never happened.

Atticus had stopped before I hit the wall. He was looking down at me, yellow eyes scanning my face.

He growled.

"You're mine," he snarled, grabbing my hand and tugging me to the nearest room.

He pushed me on the bed, slamming the door and turning to face me with his yellow eyes. I looked over to the mirror and noticed my own eyes were yellow as well.

Atticus walked over to me, then ripped my pants off. He looked at me, smirking.

"You need to be punished," he whispered.

I bit my lip.

"Then do it," I said.

I woke up and ran to the bathroom, throwing up the black liquid again.

It wasn't for one minute this time, it was for around three minutes of throwing up and stopping, then throwing up again.

I heard footsteps and knew Atticus would be finding out something was wrong with me.

"Vitani?" He called out, knocking on the door.

"Don't come in! I'm using the-" I got cut off by throwing up some more.

I heard Atticus inhale sharply.

"Vitani, are you throwing up?" He asked softly.

I wasn't able to reply. More black liquid made its way up my throat and out my mouth.
