Chapter 30

I stared into the mirror, looking at the girl in front of me.

I looked down and saw the scar on her arm, something she'd gotten by practicing too much with knives and blades.

I looked back up and stared into her eyes. Her eyes looked so serious, so cold, but deep down I knew she was in pain.

I shook my head and looked away from the reflection of myself.

I stepped into the shower and sighed, holding on to my head.

So many voices, so many faces. Why can't I be normal?

I stood still for about five minutes, letting the hot water hit my back before finally putting shampoo on my head.

I stepped out of the shower when I finished, and wrapped a towel around my body. I quickly got the water out of my hair with a towel and opened the door, stepping out into the hallway.

Just as I walked out, Atticus was passing by.

He stopped and stared at me. I could see him clenching his jaw, his eyes moving up and down.

I clutched the towel, suddenly feeling self-conscious.

"Hey, V? Did you happen to bring some-" I heard Danny call out. I looked over, and saw him standing in the hallway. Atticus growled and moved me behind him, covering me from Danny.

"Go away," Atticus growled out.

"I was about to ask Vitani something, and I'd like for her to answer me," Danny said, tilting his head up.

Atticus growled.

"V, did you happen to bring some toothpaste? I can't find mine," he said.

"Yeah, I'll get it for you, just let me get dressed," I said.

Danny nodded and walked away. Atticus turned back to me and stared at me. He seemed to be in pain, his eyes looked red.

"Do you like him?" He asked softly.

"He's only my friend, Atticus," I said gently. He sighed and looked down at the floor.

"Do you still love me?" He asked after a long moment of silence.

I looked down at the floor.

"I do," I whispered. He looked up at me and took a step towards me.

"I love you," he whispered. He then side stepped me and walked away. I stayed still, processing what had just happened.

I shook my head and walked to the room I was staying in.

I quickly got dressed and grabbed the tube of toothpaste, walking to Danny's room.
