Epilogue
*Three years later*
"Sweetheart, please don't pull my hair."
Atticus snorted. "That's not gonna happen any time soon."
Derik tugged on my hair again and I groaned.
"Derik, honey, please stop pulling mommy's hair," I begged, prying his hands off my now tangled hair.
"Alessa, get over here!" Atticus yelled out. The three year old came running down the stairs and gave us a big grin.
"Have you put your shoes on yet?" Atticus asked.
"Yes, I have," she responded in her high pitched voice.
"Show me," I said. Alessa lifted her dress and showed us her shoes. Her laces were in knots, and I handed Derik to Atticus so that I could tie her shoes properly.
"Daddy, when are we leaving?" Derik asked.
"When mommy says we do," Atticus replied.
I finished tying Alessa's shoes and fixed her hair.
"Are we all ready?" I asked. The twins nodded.
"I need help with my tie," Atticus admitted with a sheepish grin. I laughed and walked over to him.
"I don't understand why I have to wear this thing," Atticus complained.
"This is a formal event! We have to look our best," I told him.
"Mommy, where's uncle Danny?" Alessa asked.
"Sweetheart, he's not here," I reminded her.
"Where is he?" Derik asked.
"He's also getting ready," I stated, finishing Atticus's tie and smoothing it out.
"Thanks," he said. He leaned down and placed a kiss on the tip of my nose.
I pulled on his tie to bring him lower and kissed him.
"The kids," Atticus murmured into the kiss.
