Hiya, Elise!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to get through, OMGosh... But just let me say to start out, it is TOTES EXCITING to know that here we are in the same hotel!!! I'd've gone to find you but... well, things got busy and, well.
I HEART your setup with the TV station and here are my venues of choice for my hours:
12 - 1: CROSSBOWS!!! (Srsly, I KNOW Kate and the guys will eat it up!)
(rest and recreate while you do the swordfighting)
2 - 3: The Court Jester's Juggling School! (Well, we can't be TOTES martial the WHOLE time. I thought this would display to advantage the less... powerfully built among our matches.)
(off to the MEGA-JOUST. Which, BTW... I've got an EXTRA BOY. I could either ask someone to volunteer to SIT IT OUT, or... I was thinking maybe I'd loan one of 'em to you and let KATE have a go at it? (although she might actually win the thing... which could be awkward) Thoughts???)
7 - 8: Pig 'n Swig!!! Yes, I will be taking my dates to experience craft beer and bacon pairings. I thought that, since you do have vegan Tariq among your crew, this is probably better sampled by my guys!!!
(rest & recreate while you do the Wenches' Ball -- although I wouldn't be surprised, just to warn you, if some of my group decided to show up over there.)
9-10: A CHOICE of either the fireworks or the FAIRE PUB CRAWL (had to keep poor Brianna in mind, with her firework-induced-PTSD. Besides, I hear that alcohol is really the THING to create GOOD TV. High hopes for drama and excitement!!!)
And then on to the wrap party, etc, etc.
Okey-dokers, moving right along. Seriously, RIGHT AFTER I finished up my report to you on PIEDATE, I grabbed my bags and my car keys, and headed out ON THE ROAD!!!! It's a two-day drive all the way up there, through some PRETTY DESOLATE territory.
The first night I spent with my BFF from high school who married an AF officer a couple years ago. They're stationed at Mountain Home AFB and it's on the way (although not exactly halfway! Meant a long drive on the next day, but WHATEVS! It's been ages since I've seen her bc she went to a different college and since she got married they lived in Germany until just recently.
It was TOTES AWESOME to see her. Not the most exciting part of the country to visit -- sorta rolling and flat, but you could see a LOT of the sky -- and the planes around the base are fun! We did a GNO with her Military Wives Club friends (and one sad Military Husband who seemed to feel awkward and out of place, but apparently his wife is a Captain who works with their husbands) and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. Tapas and a CANDY BAR (as in, a bar with all sorts of candy selections) and ALL KINDS of fun GAMES TO PLAY. OMGosh, I'd forgotten how much I missed that kind of thing once all my friends got married and the round of BACHELORETTE PARTIES and SHOWERS stopped happening. (Although, come to think of it, there will probably be more of that sort of thing once the group really starts getting into BABY SHOWER time. Hmmm)
Then off at a horrible hour of the morning -- can you say, SUGAR COMA. Seriously, I had to stop at a gas station and pick up the BIGGEST HOT CHOCOLATE that they had available, just to get myself up and going again!!!!
Interesting scenery through Eastern Oregon -- not really how I picture that state, all sort of dry and hilly and then you go up into the mountains... then it switches to more of the GREEN, TREE-STUDDED country that you picture as Portland-esque!
But, argh, I suffered the most HORRIBLE CATASTROPHE on the way to the hotel. It was a COMPLETE BUMMER too, because I was on schedule to get there early enough to get everything settled JUST RIGHT and have enough time to check in with you and get things going...
