Chapter X - A Proper Thank You

(A/N -  So here is the second post of the day!!  This chapter is dedicated to thatkidbex.  I am currently immersed in Animal Attraction, but I also really enjoyed Coin Operated Boy.  She is a very creative writer and deserves props!!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy chapter 10!!  Thank you!)

Wednesday came and went.  There were some issues at work and I haven’t even had time to think.  Harry texted me throughout the day but because of some employee relation issues that kept coming up and my fatherly duties, I wasn’t able to respond to him until after I put Ava Belle to sleep.  And by that time he could only reply with quick one or two word answers because he had his obligations, such as appearances.

Liam and Zayn told me that the party was almost completely set up.  Just a few last minute details and the decorating of course, but that couldn’t be done until Saturday, the day of the party.  I still wasn’t sure if Harry would be there.  It is likely that he would probably be too busy to attend, which I would be a tad upset, but I would completely understand.

Thursday brought more unexpected problems at work and an unscheduled meeting had to take place at 5:30pm to accommodate some of the higher up bosses.  Of course the meeting would likely last a couple of hours, but I usually pick up Ava Belle by that time and there was no way for me to get out of the meeting.  This is when being a single parent had its problems.

To: Louis

I’m in a bind.  Would you be able to get Ava after school and watch her at my house until I get home, likely around 8pm?  An unexpected, mandatory meeting is taking place today.

To: Niall

I wish I could, but I’m having dinner with Michael’s parents tonight.  It’s the first time I’m meeting them.  I’m so sorry.

To: Louis

It’s completely fine!  Good luck tonight!  I know they will love you!

Ok, Louis down, Liam and Zayn to go.

To: Liam

Is there any chance that either you or Zayn would be able to get Ava from school and watch her until I get home from work around 8 tonight?  A mandatory meeting was scheduled for 5:30 and there is no way out of it…..

To: Niall

I know I can’t.  I have a late meeting as well.  I’m sorry.  But give me five minutes; I’ll see if Zayn is able to.

I waited a few minutes for a reply from Liam and of course Zayn wasn’t able to either.  ‘What am I going to do?’ I thought.  I paced my office a few times.  Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.  Running my hands through my hair in frustration.  The time was now 3:30pm.  I had basically an hour to find someone to get her.  I wish I had made friends with some of the other parents at her school.   Finally another option came to my head.  But it was an option that I really didn’t want to utilize, but at this point I was desperate.

To: Harry

So, I am sure you are really busy and I hate bothering you but I literally have no other option.  Are you by chance free tonight from 5:00 to about 8:00?  I have a meeting at work that was scheduled just a few hours ago and I absolutely can’t get out of it.  Ava Belle has to be picked up from her after school care by 5:30 and Liam, Zayn, and Louis are unable to because of other obligations….so I guess what I am asking is if you would be able to pick her up  and take her back to my place and watch her until I get home.  I completely understand if you can’t. 

I waited for the reply which came quicker than I had imagined actually.

To: Niall

You, gorgeous Niall, are in luck!!!  I am actually just hanging out at my house watching TV and am completely bored!!  I have nothing else going on tonight and I would be more than happy to get Little Miss.
