Chapter 31:

Nate’s POV

“Wonderful. They are staring.” She whined.

At that moment, I got a really good idea to make them stop staring.. Okay, they might stare still, but for a different reason. I can’t wait to see Carrie’s face. I stopped in the front of the room before clapping my hands to get there attention.

“Yes, I know my girlfriend is beautiful, but can you stop staring?” I said smirking.

Carrie gasped and slapped my arm. I heard wolf whistles throughout the classroom and some ‘Awhhs’ too. Before I could get the chance to continue Carrie grabbed my arm and pulled me to the back of the classroom to sit down.

“I can’t believe you just said that!” She said blushing, big time.

“Yeah, well it got them to stop staring.” I said a little smug.

She just shook her head and I grabbed her hand while she put her attention on Mrs. Preston. A lot of guys in our grade think she is hot. But, honestly, I think Carrie is way hotter. Yeah, Mrs. Preston has blonde hair and blue eyes, but I love my brunette haired and chocolate brown eyed girl.

“Do you think she’s hot?” Carrie whispered into my ear.

“W-What?”

“Do you think she’s hot?” She repeated.

I decided to play with her.

“Yeah.” I said looking into her eyes.

“Oh.” She pouted. I resisted the urge to laugh because you could tell she was just a little upset. At least she wasn’t pissed.

“But you’re hotter.”

“Haha. You’re really funny.” She said with no humor.

“You’re right. I am funny.”

“You are so mean! I thought I was your beautiful girlfriend?”

“Nope.”  I said acting serious.

“You ass!” She growled.

Okay, she’s getting mad. I need to stop. But shit, this is really funny.

“You are my insanely beautiful, hot, and sexy girlfriend that I love with all my heart.” He whispered in her ear.

She opened her mouth to reply but Mrs. Preston called her name.

“Here!” She yelled.

I heard some laughs and looked up to see Mrs. Preston trying to be serious, but failing miserably.

“Sorry, what?” Carrie said completely embarrassed.

“I was actually if you’d like to share anything with the class, Mr. Lakerfield,” my eyebrows rose slightly when she said my name, “and Mrs. Summers.” Mrs. Preston said.

“U-Uhm. No, sorry.” My embarrassed girlfriend stuttered.

    I smirked.

“Actually, I do.” I said standing up.

“Nate.” She warned.

I smiled when she put her hands over her face and put her head on her desk. She’s so cute.

“I was just telling my girlfriend how hot and beautiful she was.” I said innocently. I decided to not say sexy for my sake. Carrie would kill me, I just know it.

“I’m glad that you think that, but when I call you’re name can you guys actually reply?” Mrs. Preston said smiling.

“Yes Ma’am.” I said before sitting down.

I looked over at Carrie giving me a glare. She was going to say something before a guy in front of her turned around and checked her out then looked at me.

“You’re right, she is hot.” He said smirking.

I don’t know this asshole but he better shut his mouth.

“Shut up.” I growled.

“Hey man, I’m just saying. She’s hot.” He said looking at Carrie again.

I looked over at Carrie to see her taking his appearance in confusion, but you could tell she was comparing him to me, because she is looking back and forth at each of our features.

“I know she is. And she’s mine.” I growled, wrapping an arm around her waist. The only reason I could do that is because our chairs are really close together.

“Woah. I don’t want to take her from you. You guys are cute together. I’m just saying good pick.” He said winking at Carrie before turning around.

I was completely pissed. He has some nerve telling me that my girlfriend is hot. Who the fuck is he anyway?! I’ve never got jealous before because our relationship wasn’t really public until now. But, I don’t mind it.

“Nate calm down.” Carrie whispered to me, trying to be quiet.

I didn’t look at her I kept staring forward, clenching my jaw. I felt a soft hand on my cheek turning me towards her.

“Nate, calm down.” She whispered, looking into my eyes.

I looked at her and took some deep breaths. If anyone could calm me down, it’s her. She looked amused, I can just imagine I look stupid with my cheeks puffing out, and then blowing out air.

“Remember, I don’t like him. I love you.” Carrie whispered lovingly.

“I love you too.” I breathed out. I looked over to see that Mrs. Preston was talking to a teacher. I leaned over and gave her a cheek. She sighed in content and looked forward at the teacher that started her annoying talking.

I sighed and looked forward too, grabbing one of her hands entwining them together. I hate this class. I zoned out as soon as she started to talk about our essay we have to do.

I love how Carrie hates History so much that she would sit there and eat her food tiny bite, by bite to not go. I don’t mind History; I barely pay attention in class anyways. I usually just listen to the end and listen to what we have for homework or a test, then go home and study for it. Even though I don’t study too much, I still get A’s, and I know it bug the crap out of Carrie. But, she is so smart. Yes, she has to listen in class and study too, but she still gets really good grades. Well, besides Math, she’s horrible at that. I actually have to teach her that since it’s my best subject. We have today since we didn’t Friday, I can’t wait to see Carrie’s face when she realized that after lunch, we have Math. It’s going to be pretty funny.

‘BRINNGGG’

The bell interrupted me from my thought. Surprisingly, time went by faster than I though it did. I listened to Mrs. Preston tell us our homework in a rush then dismissed us.

“Please tell me its lunch.” Carrie said whining standing up.

“Haha, its lunch. It hasn’t even been that long!” I said laughing standing up too, grabbing my stuff and waited for her to follow me towards the door, where everyone was rushing.

“Uh, yes it has. It’s been almost 2 hours. All her talking made me hungry.” She said in a ‘duh’ tone.

Holy shit. I’ve been thinking for that long?

“Oh wow. Okay.” I said.

I groaned looking ahead, the hallway was packed. Sometimes, I really hate lunch time in our school.

“Come on, Nate! Let’s hurry.” Carrie said grabbing my hand and starting to run down towards the crowded hallway.

“Okay, okay! I’m hurrying!” I groaned.

She didn’t even care that she was running into people. Every time she did though, I said sorry. Dang, she really is hungry! Well, she only had a little for breakfast. But, that is my fault because I forgot to go shopping. I’ll have to do that sometime this week. Carrie started to speed walk once we got into the cafeteria. I looked over at Ally and Jake that were seated at our table and mouthed, ‘help.’ All they did was smile and laugh.

My crazy girlfriend rushed to the line and stopped acting like nothing just happened. I looked at her expectantly.

“What? I told you I was hungry.” She mumbled.

    All I did was laugh.

“Stop laughing.” She groaned.

“You’re just so funny.” I said laughing even harder.

“Shut up!” She started to laugh.

Somebody cleared there throat behind us as we moved up the line. Carrie and I turned around to see Stacey looking at me with lovey dovey eyes. Before she could even say anything I spoke up.

“Stacey when are you going to ever leave us alone?!” I said annoyed.

“When you guys break up and we get together.” Her annoying high pitched voice said.

“Do you not get it? I. Do. Not. Like. You.” I said emphasizing each word to make sure her dumb brain would get it.

“Oh babe, yes you do.” She said smiling completely oblivious.

“Stacey! I DO NOT LIKE YOU! I WILL NEVER LIKE YOU!” I yelled.

“YES YOU DO! YOU’RE JUST LYING!” She screamed back.

“I DO NOT LIKE YOU! I LOVE HER!” I yelled and pointed to Carrie by my side looking frightened.

“You can’t love her! She’s an ugly fat cow!” She screamed.

“Don’t you dare call my girlfriend an ugly fat cow! Because she isn’t! She looks a hell of a lot better than your toothpick body! It’s not pretty to be that skinny! GO EAT SOMETHING!” I screamed furious.

I wrapped my arm around Carrie’s waist. Stacey didn’t say anything else, she just walked away. I realized that everyone in the cafeteria had heard us fighting and before I knew it they were all clapping. I smiled and looked at Carrie who was beaming.

“Thank you.” She said.

“You’re welcome. Now let’s get you something to eat.” I said grabbing her Ravioli and me one too.

I paid for our food, to Carrie’s dismay. She wanted to pay, but I wouldn’t let her. We made our way towards our table, I saw that everyone was back to normal and not staring or clapping. Well, except a couple of people were still staring. Once we got to our table all of Carrie’s friends started to say congrats on dating. I looked in front of me at Jake.

“I was wondering when you were going to tell her off. She was so damn annoying.” Jake said giving me a fist bump.

“I know. When she called Carrie fat, I almost lost it.” I said taking a bite of one of my raviolis.

“Me too!” Ally said getting in our conversation.

“Yeah, she did. I had to physically hold her back.” Jake said laughing.

“Well! No one is going to call my best friend fat!” Ally growled.

“Guys, let’s just drop it.” Carrie groaned.

“Fine.” we all said.

“So what’s going on with you two?” Carrie said looking at Jake and Ally wiggling her eyebrows.

“Nothing.” Ally said innocently.

“Yet.” Jake added smugly.

“Shut up.” All said hitting him.

“You know you want me.” Jake said joking.

“Pft.. No I don’t.” Ally said giving out a terrible lie.

They continued  bickering when Carrie and I looked at each other. We were both amused.

“Remember when you hated me?” I said laughing.

“Haha, yes! Good times, good times.” She said smiling.

“Yes it was. Hey, I have something to show you tonight. Wanna go on a mini road trip?” I asked hoping she would say yes.

“Sure!” She said before eating her last ravioli.

“Okay, are you going to go home before?” I asked.

“Yeah, you wanna come over too?” She asked.

“Sure. But, we won’t leave till like 7.” I said, making sure not to give anything away.

“Why that late?” Carrie asked confused.

“Oh, you’ll see.” I smirked before the bell rang.

She shrugged acting like she didn’t care, but you could tell she did. She loves surprises. Especially when I took her to the waterfall. We all got up and dumped our trays. But, Carrie was having trouble holding some of her books since we didn’t stop by our lockers, so I grabbed them from her and started to head towards our lockers.

“We have Math next.” I said to her.

“Are you in every single one of my classes?” She said in shock.

“Yes.” I said laughing.

“Wait, its Math time?!” She yelled with a grimace.

See told you her face would be funny.

-3 hours later-

Carrie and I were walking towards my car finally out of school. Carrie almost fell asleep in Math class, which I wasn’t surprised with. We had a free period, then study hall at the end of the day. I was so happy to go home. Well, Carrie’s home. I opened her door for her, then went over to mine and hopped in. Carrie was already dozing off halfway to her house. I chuckled quietly. I stayed silent until we got to her house. I looked over at Carrie and saw that she was sleeping. I got out of the car, shutting my door softly making sure not to wake her up. I jogged to the passenger side and opened her door quietly too. I hooked my arm under her legs, and back to carry her bridal style. I shut the door and grabbed her key out of her pocket with the hand under her back.

I walked up the steps without hesitation. She was like a feather. I got up to the door and put the key in and walked in. I didn’t bother shutting the door, walking into the living room then sat her on the couch covering her up with the blanket. I walked back to the door and closed it, but took the key out before. I went over to Carrie and took her shoes off setting them on the ground. She was taking up the whole couch, I chuckled. I went over to the love seat and sat down taking my shoes off too. I put my head back and fell asleep, but set my alarm on my phone for 7.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I groaned sleepily and turned it off. I walked over to Carrie who was still dead asleep and shook her to get her to wake up.

“What time is it?” She asked yawning.

“It’s 7.” I said yawning too.

“Aren’t we supposed to leave now?!”  She said jumping up.

“Only if you want to.”

“Okay, let’s go!” She said excited.

I laughed at her while putting my shoes back on as so did she. I grabbed my car keys and her house keys before walking out the door. She must have gotten some good sleep because she was happy and smiling the whole way there. I turned down an old dirt road to see Carrie’s confused face. I only smiled at her and kept driving till I stopped at the end.

“Are you going to kill me?” She asked jokingly.

“Now why would I do that?” I said laughing.

“I don’t know.” She mumbled.

I got out of my car the same time she did. I grabbed her hand and walked towards the woods. The sun was setting so I had to hurry. I started to speed walk, basically dragging her behind me.

“Come on! We’re going to be late!” I said looking behind me.

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” Carrie muttered.

I pulled her faster so she would start walking faster. When we got to the spot there was a clear view above us and in front of us. You could see the sun going down the horizon. Carrie gasped and we both sat on this big rock that was there. I wrapped an arm around her, letting her set her head on my chest.

“This is so beautiful Nate.” She whispered.

“Just like you.” I whispered back.

“Stop it. You’ve made me blush enough today.” She mumbled.

I chuckled and looked up seeing that what we came here for was starting to show up. Stars. A bunch of stars. I head Carrie gasp again and it made me smile. I knew she would like this. Especially with everything. I know Frank is going to be put up, but her parents are about to find out, if they don’t already know.

I put my index finger under her chin, leaning it towards me and gave her a kiss on the lips.

“I love you.” I whispered.

“I love you more.” She said back.

“That’s not possible.” I said before looking back up at the stars.

And here I said no mushy stuff for awhile. I chuckled and looked up at the sky. Carrie looked up too, and we saw a shooting star.

“Make a wish.” She said smiling.

“I already have everything I want.”
