"Oh, honey," Steve's voice was low and growly and Aislinn shivered at the gentle caress of soft lips against her nape, "I love you."
"Mmmm," she purred, her eyes closed, her skin tingling from the teasing touch of his hands skimming along her back, moving downward, kissing each bit of skin after he stroked it.
He nipped her gently over her left shoulder blade.
Nipped the curve of her waist.
Her left butt cheek.
"Steve..." She couldn't keep the breathiness from her voice. Her entire body tingled from his attentions and she wanted him. Now.
He kissed the back of her left thigh. "Jenna..."
"Jenna?" She peered at him over her shoulder. "I'm not Jenna."
"What are you doing here? I told you, I don't want a girl who cheats on me."
"But, we're okay now. We made up, remember?"
"Made up? You're fucking crazy. I don't want you. I married Jenna."
"What?!"
Aislinn's eyes snapped open. A dream. Thank gods.
The first light of dawn sliced into the room, bounced off the pale blue carpet, and she breathed a sigh of relief at the strong arm draped over her hip.
"You okay, Ash?" Steve's voice was a sleep-thick whisper. "You just jumped a foot off the bed."
Her heart hammered against her ribs. "Just a dream," she whispered back, squinting at the clock. Ten after five.
"Nightmare?"
"Yes."
His arm tightened, pulling her closer into his chest. "Want to tell me about it?"
"N-no. I'm fine." She carefully rolled to face him. His eyes were closed. His fingertips brushed along the curve of her backside.
Without thinking, she tucked her head against the warm wall of his chest and tightened her arms about him. He eased both arms about her, whispering, "Are you sure, honey? You're shaking."
"It was just... It was that same dream I had when I fell asleep watching Die Hard." She squeezed her eyes shut. "The one where you were married to Jenna."
He pressed a kiss into the top of her head and murmured, "It was only a dream, baby. I'm right here and I can promise you, I am not marrying her."
"It was so real and so weird..." She opened her eyes, tilting her head to peer up at him. In the half-light of dawn, she could just see his face. "You were kissing me--down my back--and I looked over at you and you were shocked that it was me there and not Jenna. You told me we were through and that you'd married her."
He smiled, one hand coming to curve against her cheek. "That is a nightmare, for both of us."
She scowled. "Steve."
"Ash."
"Why did I even bother?" she sighed, rolling her eyes and turning away from him.
"Don't be mad, Ash, I'm only teasing." Steve's voice came soft in her ear, his arm sliding about her waist once more.
Her hair slid to the side and her eyelids drooped as his lips skimmed teasingly along the curve of her neck.
He eased her onto her belly.
