It was a little odd, lying in bed and not seeing a window to his right, but Steve didn't mind it so much. Fact was, it was difficult to mind much of anything after night like this one, when his body still hummed with some of the most incredible climaxes he'd ever had. This was, without a doubt one of the most erotic nights of his life. When Aislinn used her magic on him, it was nothing he'd ever felt before—a pleasure so intense, it threatened to devour him whole. At first, as that pleasure crept over him, he enjoyed it, of course.
But then Aislinn did whatever it was she did and the pleasure—the fiery hot, smoking pleasure—engulfed him, tore through him, until he wondered for a moment if he was actually going to die from it. His heart raced as every pleasure point in his body tingled at the same time. He was pretty sure his eyes crossed and his heart actually stopped at one point. It was more potent than the strongest drug on earth, and more incredible than anything he'd ever thought possible.
And the woman who made him feel like a kid losing his virginity all over again, lay quietly in his arms, her head resting on his chest, her fingers skimming lightly along his belly before going still.
His wife.
The mother of his child.
He smiled into the darkness. It was a strange room, with windows in the wrong places, but he'd never been more content. The wind blew softly through the windows on either side of the headboard. Thanks to Aislinn's gift to poof things into being, white eyelet curtains fluttered in that gentle breeze.
She sighed in her sleep, her arm tightening about his waist. Without thinking, he pressed a kiss into the top of her head. "I love you, baby," he whispered, drawing his arm tighter about her shoulders.
I love you. Those words were so simple and yet they didn't even come close to conveying how he felt about Aislinn, or how deeply his feelings for her ran. Until he met Aislinn, he had no idea such feelings could exist. Had no idea he would ever feel this way where any woman was concerned. He probably would have laughed at anyone who suggested it was even possible. But now? He wished he had the words to let her know just what she meant to him.
His demigoddess.
His princess.
His wife.
His Aislinn.
She stirred, a low moan rising to her lips. "Please... no..."
Then she jerked away from him, flopping onto her back. "Oh... gods, no... not that..." Panic crept into her voice. "Where is he? I need... I need to find him... Steve? Oh, no... please... please don't..."
"Ash, honey," Steve reached for her, "wake up, baby."
She thrashed against him, crying now as she shook her head. "Jenna... why... why can't you just leave us alone? Please, Steve... don't do this..."
He wrapped his arms about her. "Aislinn, baby... you're dreaming."
"Steve!" Her eyes snapped open, overflowing with tears that streamed down over her cheeks. She broke down, sobbing as she sank into him, clinging to him.
"Shhh, baby," he murmured, one hand pressed to the back of her head as he rocked her gently. "It's okay, sweetheart. It's just a dream, Ash. Only a dream."
"But it was so real," she choked, shaking her head as she lifted it to peer up at him.
"I know, but it's not." He went still, holding her closer. "It wasn't, Ash, baby. I'm right here."
"You were there in my dream," she murmured, going still against him. "But you were with her. I came home and caught you... in this bed... with her... With Jenna..."
