Vincent was right that by the end of the week I would be ready to go on runs with them, well mostly at least. I spent long hours in the gym and learning to shoot different kinds of guns. Our shooting lessons started off badly. So badly I thought Vincent's head was going to explode.
"Annabelle how hard is it to shoot the damn target?" Vincent sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. That made my mouth water and distracted me like a kid with ADHD.
"I've never shot a gun before!" I gasped in shock. He tried making me feel stupid because I didn't know how to shoot?
"That's why I'm trying to teach you! It's not hard-" he started but I quickly cut him off.
"Choose your words carefully buddy. I'm not a member of the Italian mafia. I'm not a hunter. I'm not a cop. There's really no reason why it should come as a surprise to you that I'm not your average professional guns-man." He smiled an actual genuine smile, showing off his perfectly straight white pearly teeth.
"Okay no more playing around. We don't have much time for you to get this down. We leave at 6:00 pm sharp." His smile faded and was replaced by his usual scowl.
"Tonight?" I asked my voice betrayed me and squeaked like a mouse.
"Yes Anna. Tonight." He walked behind me and wrapped his arms around me placing his hands over mine. His placed his finger over my trigger finger. I could barely focus on anything other than him. His cologne was fogging my brain up. His muscles were clenched tight and firm around me. I could feel his minty breath as it fanned over my bare shoulder. I picked a bad day to wear a tank top. With every breath he took it sent a chill running down my spine. I tried to resist the urge to shiver but my body had betrayed me.
"Relax your body. You're too tense. Space your feet just a little further apart. Straighten your back. Lift your arms a little bit higher. Take a deep breath and then pull the trigger." I did exactly as he told me and when I pulled the trigger it went right in the middle of the target.
"Bullseye!" I cheered and did a little happy dance. I turned around and wrapped my arms around Vincent's chest giving him a big hug.
"Thank you! That was incredible!" I beamed up at him and looked into his eyes. I couldn't fight the urge to kiss him. My brain was telling me not to but my heart has a mind of its own. I inched closer and closer to him giving him time to move away from me but he didn't. Did he know I was going to kiss him? What would he do if I did? I honestly didn't care. I had to have my lips on his at least one more time.
Our lips connected and the fireworks from the first kiss we had came rushing back. I thought he would pull away but instead he grabbed my hips pulling me closer. I wrapped my arms around his neck deepening the kiss. He nibbled on my lip and I groaned in satisfaction.
Footsteps came tumbling down the stairs but that didn't stop me.
"Um boss it's time to get going." Matteo stood there awkwardly scratching the back of his neck clearly uncomfortable given the circumstance.
Vincent pulled away from me making my warm body cold missing the warmth from his.
"Right. Anna go get dressed. Wear all black. Meet us in the living room in 20 minutes." I nodded my head unable to say anything. I scurried to my room and fumbled through my clothes searching for all black clothes that were suitable for this run. I settled for black skinny jeans and a black tank top. I put a black leather jacket on over the tank top. I look my hair down from its messy bun and ran my fingers through it. I didn't know what shoes to wear so I slipped on some black converse and walked towards the living room.
"Alright let's get going." Vincent rested his hand on my lower back and ushered me outside. There was a black decked out Tahoe parked out front. Donatello opened the back door letting us all get in. Adriano rode up front with Donny. In the backseat was me, Vincent, and Matteo. In the row in front us were three more men I didn't recognize because I hadn't met them. The rows weren't like the rows in normal cars where everyone faces forward. The row we were sitting on faced the row of the three strangers who faced us.
"Here's your gun Anna. It's loaded and ready to go. The safety is on. Only use it once I tell you to. You cannot hesitate or else it will give them an advantage. Keep it holstered under your jacket." Vincent ordered as he handed me a gun and I saluted him.
"Ay Ay Captain." I joked but no one other than myself laughed which made it very awkward in the car.
"So where are we going?" I asked since I clearly had no idea where we were even going.
No one answered me. Not that I expected them to.
"What are we doing?"
Again no one answered me or even acknowledged me for that matter.
"Oh how ironic you teach me how to fight, you teach me how to shoot but when it comes down to the actual night you have nothing to say!" I groaned and threw my head back against the leather seat. I could tell I was bothering the guys but honestly I couldn't care less. I was getting dragged to God only knows where. Where they expect me to shoot if they need me to but yet I can't have any clues as to where in the fuck we were even going.
"If you don't tell me right now where we are going I swear to God-" I started to threaten them but one of the guys in the middle leaned forward in his seat.
"Chatty Kathy if you don't shut the fuck up I am going to slit your throat and dump your body in a ditch." That instantly made me shut my mouth.
"Darren ease up on the girl it's her first run." Matteo was the one to defend me. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.
Darren was huge. At least 6'5. He had the build of a UFC fighter. His jaw was square and his head was shaved bald. He always looks so damn mad. His eyes were a stone cold blue color. I'll bet he doesn't have a nice bone in his body.
"That's Darren. Don't get on his bad side. He is not one you want to mess with. This is Emilio." He gestured to Emilio. Who was handsome. He was a tanned skinned and gelled hair Italian guy. He had dimples that complimented his perfectly structured face. He was built perfectly like an underwear model.
"Hello." I smiled sweetly at him. I couldn't help but flirt with him. He knew it too. He smiled his playboy smirk at me and lord Jesus I almost melted.
"Hello lovely." He bowed his head and winked at me. Vincent looked almost mad that I was talking to Emilio but he didn't say anything.
"And this is Travis." Matteo introduced the last of the three guys to me. Travis didn't smile or say anything he just gave me a quick nod. He had blonde hair and almond brown eyes. He wasn't as buff as Emilio but he looked extremely strong.
"Now you are familiar with everyone and can put a face to the name." Matteo informed me and I just nodded.
"Thank you Matteo." I smiled in return. I never would have thought that me and him would be on good terms but life is full of surprises.
"Okay we are here." Donatello said with his voice stern. It was weird seeing the guys in 'business' mode. I was so used to seeing them at home where they are still serious but not on this level.
"Everyone do as you have been told. You know what to do. Anna stay close to me and only shoot if and when I tell you. Everyone understand?" Vincent commanded everyone and everyone mumbled courses of yes sirs.
"Let's go." Vincent said as Adriano opened the door and we all piled out one by one.
