Chapter 17

Lightningpaw awoke to a warm leaf-fall morning. She could hear cats murmuring. She pulled her self out of her nest to find, a group of cats talking. Lightningpaw went over to the fresh kill pile and, picked out vole. She started to eat the vole and listen to what the cats were saying.

"So meadowclan want to hold the gathering early?" Thistlehawk said while looking at Shadestar. Shadestars eyes were unreadable.

"Yes." Shadestar said.

"Well maybe they want to talk about the crack between the territory's" Sunsky suggested. Shadestar shook his head.

"No Streamclan would have said the same thing. I think its something more..." Shadestar looked deep in thought.

"So when will be the gathering?" Snowfeather asked her tail rapped around her paws.

"tonight." Shadestar said. He flicked his tail and jumped on top of the high log.

"Let all cats sold enough to catch there own prey gather under the high log for a clan meeting!" Shadestar bellowed. Lightningpaw licked her lips and sat next to Snowfeather.

"Have you seen Greydawn?" She whispered in her ear.

"No" Lightningpaw licked her paw and drew it over her ear. Suddenly a cat came out of the thorn tunnel. Greydawn. His pelt was mattered with blood and mud. Lightningpaw looked at him. He limped towards the high log.

"Greydawn! Where have you been?" Shadestar looked at him with narrowed eyes

"Its a long story" He said while shooting a glance at Lightningpaw

"Go and see Redfoot at once" Shadestar ordered. Redfoot diped his head and jumped down from his spot next to Thistlehawk. Greydawn limped into the medicine cat den.

"Tonight there will be a gathering!" Cats started to murmur, "Meadowclan wanted to hold the gathering tonight. It might be about the crack splitting up the territory's but, I think something is happening in Meadowclan. So the cats going to the gathering are Thistlehawk, Sunsky Redfoot and Lightningpaw. That is all" Shadestar jumped down from the high log.

"Lightningpaw lets go battle training" Sunsky said.

"Can we come!" Smokekit ran over to them

"Smokekit! get back here!" Troutpool shouted. She picked the kit up by the scruff and rolled her eyes. Lightningpaw followed her mentor our of the camp. They came to bark training area.

"So I'm going to teach you how escape if you are corned." Sunsky said, "So i want you corner me up against that tree" She flicked her tail over to and oak tree. Lightningpaw walked over to sunsky who backed up against the tree. Lightningpaw was about to leap at her but she scrambled up the tree,flicking dirt into lightningpaw face and jumped backwards landing on top of Lightningpaw.

"Wow that was a cool move! I want to try!" Lightningpaw said getting to her paws.

"Right when you can see that your opponent is about to leap you quickly turn around and flick dirt in their face. Quickly climb up the tree and jump backwards. If you time it right you will land on top of them and as you land unsheathe your claws and sink them into their back" Sunsky unsheathed her claws and dug then deep into the earth. Lightningpaw dipped her head. She backed up against the tree. Sunsky was about to leap. Lightningpaw swiped her in the face with her paw. sunsky staggered to the side unprepeared for the blow. Lightningpaw turned around and kicked dirt in her eyes and scrambled up the tree then, jumped backwards. Landing on top of sunsky
