Chapter 20
"Smokekit from this day until you receive your warrior name, you will be called Smokepaw" Shadestar said. He let his gaze travel around his warriors
"Shadowmoon," he bellowed "with you skill in battle and wiseness of the forest I'm sure you can teach Smokepaw everything he needs to know" he said. Shadowmoon jumped up on the high log, her black and brindle tabby fur reflecting the rays of sunshine. Lightningpaw could see the joy in the young apprentices face. They had already given Riverpaw and Flamepaw their mentors. Flamepaws mentor was Greydawn and Riverpaws mentor was Snowfeather.
"Smokepaw! Riverpaw! Flamepaw!" The cats chanted. The medowclan kits were just made apprentice a few sunrises ago. Rabbitpaws mentor was Poppybush, Beepaws mentor was Mudpelt, Firepaws mentor was Treewish and Silverpaws mentor was Flowerstar. The new apprentices jumped down from the high log. Rilverpaw ran up to Lightningpaw
"Yes! I can finally train with a female apprentice" She said with a grin on her face. Lightningpaw grinned back.
"Not for long though" A voice said behind them. They turned to see Sunsky bound up towards them, "I'm going hold her assessment to today and tomorrow will be her warrior ceremony"
"OH come on!" Riverpaw said.
"At least when im a warrior i can keep an eye on your litter mates" Lightningpaw whispered in her ear. Riverpaw let her claws slide out. She bounded off and pounced on Flamekit.
"Go and get some fresh kill then meet me out side of the camp" Sunsky said and walked off. Lightningpaw went over to the fresh kill pile. on top of the other bits of prey there was a strong black bird covered in frost. That's strange its not cold enough to get frost. Lightningpaw just knocked it off the pile and grabbed a mouse.
"Sunsky?" Lightningpaw said walking out of the camp. Sunsky appeared with Thistlehawk, Troutpool, Greydawn and Flamepaw
"Lightningpaw When your a warrior you will come across kitty pets and rouges so, in this case our clan mates are going to be kitty-pets and rouges so when you huntting they will attack you at some point" Sunsky flicked her tail and Lightningpaws clan mates ran off into the forest. Sunsky stood there, "you go and hunt, when your done come back here" Sunsky said. Lightningpaw dipped her head and ran into the forset. She tasted the air and smelted a mouse. She dropped into a hunters crouch. She stalked it though the undergrowth to find Shadowmoon standong over it licking her jaws. Lightningpaw narrowed her eyes and jumped on her mother. Shadowmoon hissed and pushed Lightningpaw off. Shadowmoon unseathed her claws. Who would have thought the hardest thing to fight in the forest would be my mother! Shadowmoon lept foe her but Lightningpaw slide under her and lightly clawed her stomach. Lightningpaw jumped back and pinned her mother to the ground.
" who would have thought that the hardest thing to fight in the forest would be my daughter" Shadowmoon smiled. Shadowmoon pushed her off and bounded off. Lightningpaw went over to the mouse and rubbed her scent on it making out she killed it. Lightningpaw covered it up with some leaves and tasted the air. She could smell a dove. She set off keeping her ears back and body tense showing she was ready for ready for a fight.
She caught three mice and two doves. She had not seen any other cats since the fight with her mother. Lightningpaw went to go and pick her mouse up. She trotted back though the forest then five cats jumped out in front of her. Lightningpaw slowly put down her mouse. She unsheathed her claws. Greydawn stood in the middle his eyes narrowed. She shot him a grin. Troutpool lept for her but Lightningpaw smacked her around her face with her paw. Troutpool fell to floor. Greydawn and thistlehawk charged at her. She jumped up into the air and turned back on them and bit their tails. Now all she had to do was fight Flamepaw and Shadowmoon. Lightningpaw lept for her mother but Flamepaw slide under her and scratched her stmoache. Lightningpaw yowled and pinned shadowmoon down and turned on the apprentice. His amber eyes full of terror Lightningpaw hissed and backed down. She walked over and picked up her mouse and trotted back to camp with her tail high in the air.
Once she got back she saw Sunsky talking to Shadestar who noded his head. Sunsky walked up to her.
"Your going to be a warrior tomorrow"
