It's late.
It's really late.
Draco could barely see in front of him, it was so dark. The moon was a sleeping eye, only a curved sliver in the midnight sky. Staying close to the shadows of the archways, Draco retraced his footsteps until he saw a familiar empty corridor. Dropping to his hands and knees, Draco's reaching fingers stretched across the floor until they reached he hard wood of a chest. Smirking at the fact that he was about to discover one of the mudblood's secret pages, Draco reached for his wand in his pocket. Snarling quietly at the unfamiliar, unwelcome feeling of a stubby, short wand, Draco's upper lip curled under as he recalled having to steal the wand from a first-year Hufflepuff. He missed his wand, wherever it was.
"Lumos," he whispered, finally feeling comfortable enough to use magic sure that no professors would stumble on him. He'd been caught sneaking out in the night before, and when Snape found him... well... it wasn't a pleasant conversation.
He opened the chest, quivering in anticipation, wondering what he could be stumbling upon. His hands found two torn sheets.
"Reparo."
He nearly dropped the sheet when he read what was on it.

"Gin."
"Mmmrgh."
"Gin!"
"Mmm, what?"
"Gin, get up!"
Who in Merlin's name is hissing at me to wake up in the middle of the night?!
"What... Draco!"
"Keep your voice down!!!" Draco hissed, crouching besides Ginny's bed. She sat up, bewildered.
"How did you get in?! Boys can't get in girl's dormitories... wait, how did you get into the Gryffindor tower?!"
"That doesn't matter," Draco whispered, shaking his head. "I need to tell you so-"
"Well," Ginny interrupted, "can you tell me somewhere else? My roommates are currently sleeping- heck, they're probably listening right now!"
"I did a Silencing Charm," Draco said dismissively. "and there's no one else in here anyway."
"Oh yeah, it's boyfriend night. Well, get in, then." Ginny shook the quilt off her body, revealing a ripped tee shirt and short shorts, complimenting her generously-shaped legs. Draco stared at them hungrily, before blinking and sliding next to her in bed. It was both uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time.
"So," Ginny turned to him, leaning on her elbow. "what as so important that you had to break in my dormitory to tell me?"
Draco smirked a little as he detected a note of grudging admiration and respect in her voice.
"Well, I bumped into Granger-"
"Hermione."
"-and Weasley-"
"Ron."
"-a couple days ago, and Granger-"
"Hermione."
"-was looking really flustered and worried, and she dropped a load of sheets on the floor, and I noticed loads of weird symbols on it, that I haven't even seen in Study of Ancient Runes, either, or Divination, for that matter. Granger," he paused, waiting for Ginny to correct him, but she didn't. She seemed enthralled by his story, mouth open, eyes wide and encouraging. He continued, "Granger accidently left a sheet on the floor, and when thy left, I saw it and stuffed it in a chest. I know, I know," he said hastily as Ginny frowned, "It was stupid. Anyway, when you said that Potter may know something about it, or Granger and Weasley, I remembered the sheet and went back tonight to see what was on it, in case it was anything to do with... whatever's happening with the Dark spell."
"And?! Was there something on it?!" Ginny exclaimed desperately, before pausing. "wait, you just got back? How didn't you get caught? Why did you risk it? Couldn't you have waited until tomorrow to find it?"
"Too many questions, Gin," Draco said wearily, running his fingers through his hair. "But yeah, there was something on it. Something big." he added.
"Do tell," she whispered.
"I don't have to tell," he whispered back. Suddenly the air between them seemed tighter. Breaking the tension, Draco said, "I'll show you."
With the light of his wand, he watched Ginny's shocked, confused, then horrified expression.
"Suspects?!" she hissed, her eyes racing down the page. "Well, we can scratch out your name, that's done, so that just leaves..." he waited impatiently as Ginny connected the dots.
"But... she seemed so...your father... revenge... oh."
"Oh... what?" Draco said irritably. He hated waiting.
Ginny turned to him, fear reflected in her brown eyes.
"The G stands for me, Ginny. When Evenry shot that curse, she hit Soshry's sleeve by mistake. She was aiming for me."
"But... why?" Draco urged, desperately trying to understand.
"Don't you see?" Ginny murmured softly. "Her father, it says here, owes your father debts. Your father... he must want me dead."
