"Well, well, what have we here?"
A menacingly cold, hissing voice echoed through the duelling hall. Gasping, Ginny clutched her chest as her heart pounded in fear. Don't look up, you can't afford to faint, you have a job to do. It's NOT Tom.
Parvati gulped, bringing Ginny back to reality. Breathing fast, Ginny forced her eyes to look at Draco, who was focused entirely on Harry's barely-breathing figure, refusing to acknowledge Voldemort's presence.
Suddenly, three figures of black appeared in a triangle surrounding the Griffindor and Slytherin, wearing bone-pale silver masks. Their ebony cloaks, made from shadows and silk, shivered against the Death Eaters body as if they, too, were alive.
"Hogwarts students, I am delighted to inform you that you will serve to witness the greatest duel you will ever see, where the Chosen One will finally fall. Where I will be your true leader, and you my beloved followers. You will be rewarded for your services to me, and punished for your insolence."
A girl had started crying quietly in the audience.
The three figures slowly raised their wands, and conjured a Dark Mark sign to hover over the arena.
Breaking her stare away from Draco, Ginny began looking around the arena, looking for the ghost-like figure that matched the disembodied voice, to no avail.
Suddenly, an enormous cloud of black smoke exploded above Harry's almost-lifeless body. Ginny (as well as a few others) screamed and jerked forward when a disproportionate, snake-like body hovered over Harry's, covered only by the same, shivering black cloak the Death Eaters also wore. Ginny froze, too frightened to move.
"Hello, old friend," Voldemort snarled quietly, as he dragged a long fingernail across Harry's cheek, leaving a river of red in its wake.
"Young Malfoy, you have done well," Voldemort hissed, turning slightly, causing a wave of gasps to flow through the room. Draco didn't move. "Your father will be pleased, I am sure."
Voldemort stood. "And if your mother were alive, I'm certain that she would be proud of you also."
The only sound that could be heard in the mere second after Voldemort had spoken was the clattering of Draco's wand as it hit the ground.
