A blinding light shone on Draco and Ginny's faces, causing them to mumble and bury their heads in the other person's body.
"SHIT!" Ginny suddenly yelled, her head shooting upward.
"What?" Draco muttered groggily, pushing his face into her lap to shield himself from the sun.
"We just slept in the freaking forest, for Merlin's sake! We probably overslept! Oh Merlin, we're gonna be in so much trouble..."
"Relax, Gin, I'm a prefect, remember? I'll just add any points we lose."
"That's abusing your rights as a prefect, Malfoy," Ginny smirked, slowly laying next to him again, enjoying the relaxing heat from the skies.
"Yeah, yeah, like you wouldn't, Weasley."
"Hmm, I guess I would be a little biased towards Gryffindor."
Draco snorted, and Ginny playfully hit him on the chest. Grabbing her hand, Draco bought it to his lips. Ginny closed her eyes, silent and warmed by Draco's sweet gesture.
"Gin?" he asked, his lips still on her fingertips.
"Mmm?"
"When were you kidnapped?"
Ginny exhaled deeply. Draco waited for her response quietly.
"It was during the Christmas holiday, last year. Me and Harry were dating-" Draco hissed silently, "-and You-Know-Who was fully aware of that. The Death-Eaters -your dad included- took me while I was out with Si- walking our dog. Her name's Sireny. They cursed me so I was immobile, and took me as bait, hiding me in some dungeon..They knew Harry would come immediately to save me. And he did."
Draco was silent. "Dray?" Ginny asked quietly, turning to face him. She nearly gasped when she saw his face: all the blood had rushed from his face, his lips were thin and veins were jumping out of his skin.
"Draco! It's fine, I'm fine now!" she soothed worriedly, stroking his hair. He closed his eyes and moved towards her touch, breathing slightly shakily. She had no idea why he was reacting this way.
But he did.
It was his idea in the first place to kidnap her. He was the one who told his father about Potter and Ginny dating. He was the one who told the Dark Lord that Potter would try to save her. He was the reason that Ginny was kidnapped. The dungeon she was kept in was the Malfoy dungeon, underneath his house. He was walking above her chained body every single day, not caring about her at all. And he had completely forgotten.
And here he was, lying next to her, next to the girl of whom he'd caused the kidnapping. And she had no idea.
But it wasn't okay.
"No, it's not," Draco muttered, hurriedly putting his shirt and trousers on. "Its not okay at all," he growled as he buttoned his shirt.
"Draco, I'm fine, it was over a year ago-"
"I'm the reason you were kidnapped, Gin!" Draco roared. Birds flew out of the trees in shock and fear, and the trees shook with the power of his bellowing tone. Ginny shrunk as he ripped his robe off her naked body and slung it on. She sat up, her legs crossed, holding her knees together as she fearfully watched Draco. "It was my idea, Ginny! My idea! my idea to kidnap you as bait! I can't... I can't..."
"Stop." Ginny said. Draco froze, and turned to her, his fingers wrapped around his locks. He sunk to the grass and put his head into his shaking hands. Ginny has never seen Draco like this, never seen him so broken, so torn, so vulnerable. She stood and placed her hands gently on his shirt, and looked up to him. Being five foot three, she had to look up a lot.
"A year ago, we were two different people. A year ago, I thought you were a gnarly git, a Death Eater's son. A year ago, I relished in the thought of you being kidnapped and out of Hogwarts, because of all the shit you caused my brother, Hermione and Harry. A year ago, I bet you thought I was just the Baby Weasley, dizzily following around Potter like a puppy dog. A year ago, you may have been the reason I have been kidnapped, but that's not who you are now. I don't give a Red Karp's arse that you're the one who suggested it. I don't care. That was Malfoy, a year ago. But you're Draco now. And..." Ginny stammered, before continuing.
"You told me once before that you wanted things between us to end. And... you broke my heart. I'm not letting this stupid guilt make you do it again." She stared up at him.
"I love you, Draco Malfoy. I... love you."
Draco crushed his lips against hers, with such a fierce need that she was gasping for air at the end of their kiss. His hands were wrapped around her back and neck, and her's were buried in his hair.
"I can't live without you, Ginny Weasley," he panted, his forehead against hers. "I love you, too, more than you can ever know."
