"Me?!" Draco spluttered, sitting upright.

Ginny nodded seriously, her brown eyes calculating. "Voldemort only expects Harry to fight him, right? So... what if it's not Harry? What if it's the one person he would never expect...?"

Her words made sense, but Draco didn't make sense of them.

"How can I defeat the Dark Lord?! Me, compared to that lousy Pot-"

"Oh shut up, Draco," Ginny snapped. Draco looked up in suprise; Ginny rarely lost her temper with him. "You defeated Potter in three seconds. He and  Voldemort fought for nearly an hour at the Riddle house, and Voldemort still couldn't kill him. You-"

"No offense, Red, but it sounds like you want me to kill Potter, not the Dark Lord."

Ginny flustered. "Of course not, I'm just trying to show you how capable you are. You are perfect for this, I just know it."

Draco smiled slightly at Ginny's determined face. "Ginny, you don't know what you're saying. Besides, say you're somehow right, how the fuck am I supposed to kill Voldemort?!"

Ginny blinked when she heard Draco say "Voldemort" instead of "the Dark Lord". Taking it as a good sign, Ginny began voicing her suspicions and ideas.

"Well, you can't Kill him, because of his horcruxes. Do you know about horcruxes?"

Draco nodded, remembering one of the diary entries in his father's old journal where Lucius described them in detail.

"...so," continued Ginny, "you'll have to... I don't know; make him weak, powerless? I'd love to strip Voldemort dry and unleash everybody he's hurt, you know? Merlin, I hate..."

Draco was only barely listening. Ginny's words had triggered a series of clogs in his brain, all telling him that he had heard of something before, something which might just work.

"Of course," Draco breathed, silencing Ginny. She stared at him eagerly, tense and awaiting. Draco fumbled through the pockets of his robes before finding a leather-bound diary. He flipped through the journal quickly until he had located the page he had dog-eared a long time ago.

"What is it?" Ginny asked.

Draco turned to her, a strange, almost fragile hope in his eyes.

"Deus Sanguis."
