The school day ended after a few more classes with Jay's new friends. She was walking on the path toward home with her ear buds in. She was playing her favorite Trevor Moran song.

"It should be outlawed
What you can do to me"

She thought about Charlotte and Lily. They had wings too. How would this affect Jay's life?

"Can't take my eyes off you
In too deep"

She wanted to tell her dad about them, but she didn't know how he'd react. Maybe he would be happy she had friends like her. Maybe he would be mad. She didn't know.

She then saw Lily up ahead of her. She hurried to walk behind her. She took out her ear buds and turned off her song. She was humming a song that Jay didn't recognize.

Lily turned around. "Hey, Jay. How was your day?" She flashed a toothy smile, revealing her braces.

"Good, yours?"

"Ehh, it was good, I guess. As good as any school day could get, I suppose. I got to meet you, didn't I?" Jay was warmed by her words. No one had ever wanted to meet her.

"Anyway, I gotta run. See ya!" She turned the corner to walk into her house. She waved. Jay waved back, thrusting her hands into her pockets. She grabbed her phone, texting her dad.

"Hey, gonna go to library, see you at 5."

She headed down the road to library to look at books about winged humans. She flexed her wings. They felt so weird on her back, just there.

Jay arrived at the library a short time later. She looked through the 'w' section, finding a book about the history of wings. She flipped to a random page. She couldn't have imagined what she found there.
