Marshal had turned out to be a very good friend, despite everyone's suspicions. He was good at magic, and even taught Jay how to harness it. Him and Jay were very close friends.

One day, when they were walking to the library together, Marshal and her were having a deep conversation about law, when he said something completely off topic.

"Hey, Jay? Thank you."

"For what?"

"For treating me like I'm human," he said. "Well, you are human," she replied, "it's not like I would treat you any other way."

"I know, but still... thank you."

"Your welcome, dear friend."

They continued down the beaten path, side by side. They passed some other kids. Jay waved, but they just gave them dirty looks and 'ugh's of disgust. "Jeez, what's their problem?" Jay asked when they passed. Marshal said nothing.

They met up with Charlotte and Lily, everyone walking side by side now. Katelyn later joined them, but kept to the back.

When they got to the library and went inside, it was more quiet than it normally was. Usually you would hear quiet conversations, but now it was completely silent. Lily seemed not too worried about it and left towards the 'm' section, everyone following.

They arrived at the 'm' section, it suddenly became dark. A red light appeared in front of them. The outline looked like a human, but it was shrouded in black.

"Uhmm, what's going on?" Lily asked, quivering slightly.

"Hee hee hee hee, it's nice meeting you today," the human in the dark said. It came out of the shadows, revealing a girl with shoulder length hair, and red eyes.

"Let's play," she said, throwing a knife at the group. They all dodged, but it came right back to her hand.

Marshal's hands glowed purple, and he flung magic at the girl. She tried to dodge, but the projectile hit her in the shoulder. She growled, shooting red magic at him. He dodged, but it boomeranged back, spinning wildly around the room. It was now going straight for Katelyn.

"Katelyn, dodge!" Lily ordered.

But the order came too late.

"KATELYN!"
