"New school. Yay," Jay thought bitterly as she started to get ready. She couldn't believe she was a Bloodwing. What were the kids at school going to say? She sighed. "I just gotta suck it up."

She put on a red jumper, blue jeans, and some Converse. She put a jacket over her jumper, since it was so cold. She gathered her things and went downstairs.

"Hey, Dad. I hope you have a good day at work today!"

"And I hope you have a good day at school. Be careful, okay?"

But Jay was already out the door. He sighed, getting up and going out the door to head to work.

Jay walked into school feeling nervous. She was greeted by a mob of kids heading into the halls. Two girls near the back of the crowd suddenly burst into laughter. One girl, who Jay assumed was older, had brown hair and a black jacket paired with blue jeans. The younger one had dirty blonde hair and also wore a black jacket, but had patterned jeggings. They both had glasses.

The girls were strikingly different, but seemed to get along so well. They noticed her watching them and slackened their paces to match hers, one walking on either side of her.

"Hi! Are you new here?" The younger girl asked. "Yes, I am. My name is Jay. What's yours?"

The older one piped up first. "I'm Charlotte. This is Lily." They both waved in sync. They both had a little bit of a bulging on their backs where wings would be. She pondered if they might have wings too. The question was left unanswered as the school bell rang.

"Let's get you to the office," Lily said, leading her off into the halls.

That's when she saw a feather sticking out of her jacket.
