Seventeen

Lily's POV

I was furious at Charlotte. How could she break the promise she made to Zero? I sighed, running after her, but hiding when she looked back at me.

She ran into Jay and Marshal. I gasped quietly as Marshal reached for Tekken's tail. He jerked his tail back so he couldn't touch it.

He followed the tail. I saw Charlotte making a break for it, so I ran after Jay, who was right behind her. They stopped in a clearing. My blue green robes tugged on a tree root. I pulled it off and it made a ripping sound.

Marshal slightly looked my way, but then turned back quickly.

"Looks like we got her right where we want her, Tekken. But we can't celebrate just yet."

She lunged for Jay, but she moved to the side.

They got into a small wrestling match until I finally stepped in. I used my magic to send Charlotte flying.

"Stop this immediately!" I shouted.

Jay looked up at me. "Hey, Jay. You okay?" I asked.

"Heh. You never lose those skills, do you Lily?"

"Never in a million years," I said as I stretched out my arm for her to take it. Just then Marshal screamed. Charlotte had him by the arm.

"I'll take this," she cackled. "He should be useful."

"Lily! Jay! Help me!" He shouted as Charlotte opened a portal to who knows where.

"Hahaha! See yah around, suckers!" She leaped into the portal. Jay tried to go in after her, but I held her back.

"There's nothing you can do for him. You'll just get in more trouble than we're already in," I said as she struggled in my grip. "We have to help him!" She shouted.

She broke free, but the portal was already closed. She whipped around to face me. "We could've saved him! But you just threw that chance away!" She yelled, tears pouring down her face.

I sat down in the flowers, starting to make camp as the rays of dusk fell in my eyes. "Marshal just got captured! And now you're gonna act like it's all fine and dandy!?"

"Jay, you know we can't save him now. We will save him, I promise. But not now. Sit down, I'm making dinner."
