Twenty-nine

Lily's POV

I sat in a tree, trying to go to sleep. Since it obviously wasn't going to happen anytime soon, I thought about when Jay asked me if any of my friends had wings. I had told her one did.

I had told her all about Melody. She seemed really curious about her, so I was kinda forced to tell her. I also told her about the times we had in the past.

She had white wings, but I'd never seen her use them. She had always showed her wings in front of people, and once scientists saw her, they snatched her up for experimenting.

She died in their hands. They injected the blood from her wings into other people's backs. Their experiment worked, and formed the new wing tribes. They drained all of her blood, since new blood would come in from her body to her wings.

Before I knew it, the sun was rising. I woke up Jay and Charlotte, and we headed to the Fire temple. We got a spirit from there, and we moved on with Judy and Oka.

Charlotte kept pace with me while we walked. "Lord Drake said he'd kill Marshal if he didn't tell him where Jay was," she suddenly said.

"I'm not sure what to say about that," I replied. "I'm not sure if I want him not to tell, or if I want him to tell."

She sighed. A jab of sympathy stabbed me in the heart. "I'm sure he'll be okay," I said.

We kept walking toward the Ice temple. All of the temples were in different areas, but they all looked the same.

We were exhausted after we reached the stretch of ice that held the Ice temple.

We rested on the edge of the ice. Jay sat down on the ice, because she was so hot from the humidness in the rainforest we just passed through.

Our third spirit was just a few steps away.
