Charlotte's POV

I jumped into the portal, into the blackness that was the castle of Stardew. I carried Marshal with my magic, which you could hardly see because of the bleak background.

I flipped my hood off my head, revealing my brown hair. Marshal gasped slightly, but his face contorted to rage.

"Why are you doing this, Charlotte? You know Lord Drake isn't going to be happy with me. You know he wants Jay."

"Well, I can still use you as a tracking device. He will be happy about that," I said, flipping my hair and smiling innocently.

"I thought we were friends," he said, sitting on thin air and crossing his arms. "But it turns out, I can't trust you any more than I can trust Lord Drake."

"I know my sister will be furious. It doesn't matter. I'm doing it for you, her, everyone. We need to go to the Lord," I said, floating me and Marshal into the door. I lowered myself to the ground, leaving Marshal in the air.

I walked through a series of maze-like rooms. After a while, we finally reached Lord Drake's throne room. I bowed to him.

"Greetings, my Lord. I present to you, Marshal, a friend of Jay."

"What is his use?" His voice boomed through the room echoing off the walls. I winced.

"We can use him to find where Jay is. They share a bond that is unbreakable, as you know."

He hesitated. He seemed to be debating whether he should keep Marshal or not.

"Alright. Lead him to his cell." I walked off to the jail cell room.

"Wait, wait, wait," Marshal said holding up his hand. "Were you the girl in the library?"

"Hell no. I was there with you guys, doofus," I said, rolling my eyes. "Oh," he sighed. He was obviously trying to figure out what was going on with Stardew.

I lead him to cell 112, opened the door, and set him in the cell.

I took a deep breath. "Remember, I'm doing this for the people I care about."

"Don't you care about Jay?" He asked.

I turned away, not finding an answer to his inquiry.
